Booking fee for 1 night was $578 for a one bedroom cabin. Upon arrival there were empty beer cans all over the front porch. Inside the thermostat was broken and hanging off the wall. We were in the dead of winter so that was horrible. Beds were broken. Furniture and fixtures were cheap and not maintained. Back porch looked like a disaster. The whole place looked like a frat house was there the night before. I honestly don't even know if the place was clean. I informed Big Bear Vacations about the whole experience and how awful it was. They did not comp the night and only gave me a small portion off the bill. Will never stay at one of their places again. RENTERS BEWARE!!!!!!

I'm currently trying to work out a refund with management but they've ignored my past two emails. I'll follow-up here with resolution.

I checked into my vacation rental at 8pm Friday. Come the following morning at 7am myself and the other guest woke up with ants crawling on our faces and bodies. I am extremely disappointed I have payed over a thousand dollars and was given a rental with a bug infestation. The more we looked around the more ants we saw in the food in the beds all over the floors . We’ve contacted the leasing office and was told a person was coming shortly to perform an inspection. They did an inspection and that was it. The guy clearly saw ants everywhere even took videos and photos.... They still did nothing. This has been a really bad experiences seeing as no one would like to wake up with bugs on them. Make sure before renting to clarify with them and read the terms and agreements CLOSELY. Also, it is the following Thursday and still no call from them after they told us they would be in contact. I could also tell that the cleaning crew did not even clean. There was dirt, dust in places that couldn't have just accumulated over a couple hours. There was a hairball on the shower wall and Little to no towels. Also, The house was wide open when we got there, we had instructions on where the lock box was and keys and so forth but the house was not even locked when we got there. Clearly, the cleaning people either left it wide open, or they did not even clean and it was from the last people. I would recommend them sending same day photos or walk through before renting a house from them. Enough said.

They charged me for 2 nights even though I was booked for 1 night. My receipt even said "1 night stay" but later found out they were doing 2 nights minimum even though it doesn't say that anywhere on the website. Also, we cleaned the house before we left and they still charged us $50 for "trash and dishes" - we TOOK OUT the trash and ran the dish washer TWICE! I emailed them back asking about the fees, but they never responded. I'm having my bank take care of those extra charges but this is ridiculous.

Upon arrival the it was 50 degrees in the house. We turned the thermostat up to 80 and by morning it was only 55 degrees. We were freezing and had to go out for breakfast just to get warm. We called Big Bear Vacations to report the heater was blowing cold air they told us they could not send anyone over until we got back because of the small dog we had with us. Once back at the house we called again but now had to wait for several hours for a repair man because of heavy traffic in town. Finally a repair man came only to tell us he can't do anything because the heater was in a locked closet. I was ready to pack and leave and request a full refund but we found a couple of space heaters in a closet upstairs that made it bearable. We were only there for the weekend and lost most of our Saturday because of this issue. Also, you need to find a better cleaning crew. We found a Starbucks coffee sleeve and peanuts in the sofa and a used dust rag on the bedroom floor. I sent all this information over to Big Bear Vacations twice had have not received any response. I'm not impressed and probably won't use these services again.

Do not book with Big Bear Vacations - they rented the cabin out from under me and switched me and my children in an inferior cabin - the lock box code provided did not work and they were not answering their emergency line or calling back on a Saturday night, and I was forced to drive around for hours looking for a room. Finally we got one of the last 3 rooms in the city at Motel 6 for $400. - it took 11 days for the manager to contact me after the incident and after I left several messages - they made only a partial refund for the night - what would you do with kids in the car late on a Saturday night when you can't get into your cabin and the rental company won't answer their phone or call you back? What happens when every place you go has no vacancy? Freeze?

This was my first time booking through Big Bear Vacations and based on this experience, it will be my last. There were so many issues, I don’t even know where to start. Our cabin was supposedly damaged by a recent storm so we were made to switch cabins a few days before arrival. We were “given” a new cabin. We’re weren’t given a choice. The cabin we were given was old and outdated so we went online and found a different cabin that was open. The cabin looked cute and it was BUT there were so many issues with our cabin. The downstairs bathroom toilet didn’t flush. You had to open it and manually flush it. Also, it was 7 degrees outside on the first night and our heater didn’t work! It only blew cold air. The sink kept getting clogged and the garbage disposal didn’t work. On the 2nd day, we made a call and were told someone would stop and fix the heater and the bathroom toilet. Nobody ever went by. When I asked about it upon checkout, we were told the work order got buried in their emails so they never got to it -___- Horrible customer service. First and last time booking with Big Bear vacations. This was a headache as we had to keep dealing with issue after issue.
