Grossly Incompetent with no Standards for Artistic Consistency
My experience with Bellevue Publishers has been deeply disappointing and ultimately unacceptable. I was passed between multiple project managers throughout the process, which led to poor communication, inconsistent direction, and a complete lack of continuity. At no point did anyone take real ownership of my project. It became clear that there was no quality control—illustrations were submitted without any internal review, and glaring errors were somehow approved and sent to me. At one point, illustrations of human characters had six fingers—an obvious sign of careless, AI-generated art. Even after I raised multiple concerns, I was repeatedly promised improvements and given reassurances that things would be fixed. Yet with each new version, the problems persisted. Promises were made, staff were shuffled, and delays continued—but the results never met even the most basic standards of professionalism or artistic competence. Despite my patience and willingness to work through the issues, nothing ever truly improved. I lost all confidence in Bellevue’s ability to deliver and I’ve decided to completely abandon this project and seek other methods of completing my highly personal project. There is no scenario in which I would trust Bellevue Publishers with another opportunity. I requested a refund, despite whatever effort they’ve expended, to compensate for the headache dealing with this company has been. I would strongly caution other authors—especially those writing children’s books—not to trust Bellevue Publishers with their creative work.
