Apple + Belkin Screen Protector Replacement Program Is Misleading
I bought this Belkin screen protector at the Apple Store and was told that if it cracked, I could get replacements. What Apple does not make clear at the time of purchase is that Belkin may charge about $10 for shipping/handling for each replacement. I paid the fee and then received an email saying the replacement was out of stock and that the charge would be refunded to my credit card. I called Belkin because this made no sense. That call took about an hour because they had to create a case just to send me a replacement. When the replacement finally arrived, it was cracked. I then had to call again, spend about another 1½ hours on the phone, send photos, wait for approval, and go through another replacement process. What was presented at the Apple Store as a simple lifetime/free replacement benefit has turned into fees, out-of-stock notices, long customer-service calls, case numbers, photo approvals, and defective replacements. I would not buy this again. Apple should explain the replacement terms clearly at the time of purchase instead of making it sound like you can simply get free replacements whenever needed. The product itself may be fine, but the replacement program is absolutely not the easy, free experience I was led to expect.
