What’s most concerning is the lack of transparency around how business contact information is shared or displayed. We were not clearly informed that our information could be exposed in a way that would lead to this level of spam and harassment.

Hi there, We are very sorry to read about your experience. We want to be incredibly clear: Become does not sell customer data to third parties. We only share information with our permitted, trusted lending partners specifically to help fulfill the funding requests our customers submit. We take your privacy and the "harassment" you mentioned very seriously. We have attempted to look into your case, but we cannot locate an account under the name "localcoffeeguy." We would like to get to the bottom of this immediately. Please contact us at [email protected] so we can identify your file, see exactly what happened, and help resolve this for you.

These loans are advertised under the guise of being part of the government guaranteed loan. Appealing to vulnerable businesses with average credit scores. They then offer loans at more than double the interest rate of the government guaranteed scheme claiming to not be a part of what "Become" is offering. So if you want to borrow money at 30% and over a very short term (they advertise up to 5 years but only offer 12 months), do it knowing they are going to aggressively pressure you until you have signed and then every week they will txt and email you reminding you to pay to avoid fees. Its all very intimidating and absolutely aimed at people who are desperate for finance. In reply to the below response from Become, I received 25 emails and txt msgs over a 4 days period warning me that if I didn't accept the offer it may well not be available again. The three quotes given to me were via Become Facebook links advertising as Govt guaranteed loans - Apply now. None of the companies that contacted me were offering that nor could they. All over 30% interest. There was never any attempt or communication as to whether I qualified for the guaranteed scheme ( which I did) because none of them offered it. All claimed that Become had sent them my data request for finance, which was done through the Govt guarantee link. Very dodgy indeed.

Hi Alfred, This is Eden, the CEO here at Become. We appreciate your feedback and want to do whatever we can to help address the issues you've raised. Regarding advertisements, we did have several funding partners that offered funding in the form of government guarantee scheme loans, but the program itself officially ended June 30, 2021. We have since ceased all advertising for that specific type of funding. If you have seen an ad of ours that mentioned the government guarantee scheme after the program's end date, please let us know. You can send a screenshot to [email protected] of the ad you're referring to. In any case, when the program was active, there was no way to tell whether an applicant would qualify with those specific funding partners for that specific form of funding until they completed the application process - the same is true for all types of funding in our online marketplace. Qualifying factors inevitably vary from one lender/form of funding to the next, which is the reason why you may have received funding offers that did not include a government guarantee. Additionally, we do want to clearly state that we never pressure applicants to proceed with obtaining a business loan through our online marketplace. The decision to sign for a business loan is left in the hands of the applicants themselves. Furthermore, we noticed that you recently renewed the loan you took earlier this year, and we would like to keep you as a loyal user of our services. Please allow us the opportunity to discuss these matters with you by sending us an email to [email protected], and (to reiterate) we will do everything we can to help resolve the issues you've raised. Best regards, Eden
Kurt
Avoid inputting data with this mob, it's an Israeli company selling your data to banks. Plus you try to post feedback on their Facebook page and they have blocked all negative feedback! Dodgy!

Be careful as unless you are looking to provide a whole lot of private and confidential company information there advertising is extremely deceptive. The facebook ad did not state they would do a full background check before providing a list of potential lenders. I clicked through thinking I was getiing some general information and an idea of the types of lenders we could look at using for some early exploratory work and next thing they are asking for detailed company information that a bank requires. This was done without setting up any type of login or agreeing to their terms or being told of their privacy collection policies. Extremely Dodgy.

Hi Matt, Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry you weren't happy with our process. Our main goal is to save our customers time and only provide funding opportunities that are relevant to their business, which is also what we advertise. In order to do so, we request company details and information that is required by our lenders. Moreover, one of the steps in the process is to read and provide consent for Become to process this data, which is fully secured. Users who don't feel comfortable leaving these details are able to stop the application at any point. Our process is very transparent and the terms and conditions are available to read prior to leaving any information. Every customer agrees to our T&Cs before leaving their details. If you were looking for more general information and not specific loan offers, then you could find that in detail on our website https://www.become.co/blog/reviews/. Warm regards, Team Become
