I was really disapponted by not receiveing my order on time, but them ypur costumer service were very responsive and kind, so in the end it was not so bad.

You have to pay to buy a product, you are only allowed to buy a certain amount of product, and then you have to pay to ship your product. Beauty Pie is a great idea bringing you high end products at affordable prices, but then it’s like they really don’t want you to buy them. I wanted to buy several more products but wasn’t allowed unless I paid a higher membership price. I’m not sure. I’m over my mom telling me how I can spend my money.

I love the products, for that they get 5 stars. But I received a membership as a gift and it was very hard to use. That combined with just getting use to Beauty Pie was not a smooth experience. The customer service was on top of it but it was extremely difficult to use the gift certificate so I just gave up.

I think Beauty Pie is a great idea -- a modest membership rate, lower-than-drugstore prices, exceptional products. I have been more than impressed with the cleanser and moisturizer I have tried. Here are a couple money-related things I think are under-represented on Beauty Pie's website. Beauty Pie is still the cheapest option for getting superior skincare products (I haven't tried their makeup). But these are some snags I wish I had been aware of before signing up. There's a tax on your membership fee. It's not $10, it's $10.66. The $100 you have to spend each month is based on the estimated retail price, not the member's price -- so a $100 serum that you're paying $11 for eats up your entire month's allowance. Shipping in the U.S. is over $8, and when combined with tax, it adds $10 to your order. So that $11 serum is actually $21. Beauty Pie also seems to file transactions so that they incur an International Transaction Fee. I called them after I noticed this on my card, and they said it was due to how my bank (a major national one) processes the charge. My bank said this happens when the company enters the charge as international rather than domestic. The International Transaction Fee is under $1, but still. So after paying my membership fee of $15 (I updated from $5 to $10), I have bought a cleanser, moisturizer, and serum, which cost me $52. Still cheaper than retail, but the hidden costs surprised me. I'm still experimenting with Beauty Pie as a replacement for buying retail skincare. But these costs were not emphasized on the Beauty Pie website and I wanted to make prospective members aware of them.

While the brand itself is genius in concept and mission (five stars), the user experience on the website is a bit broken. I used a code to get a free month and it seems that the line item for the subscription was not removed upon check out and now I have to follow up with customer service to get a refund for it.

The Beauty Pie website is easy to navigate and a pleasure to use. The process for ordering is pretty easy although the amount of time it takes for the order to be delivered is a little longer than when I order from places like Sephora, Target or Amazon. And a caveat about the products I've used so far: I wish I could say that I absolutely LOVE Beauty Pie products because they are so affordable. It is unfortunate that I find the quality of the products sub par. I'm not sure how much longer I will continue.

The positive: Every makeup I have received from beauty pie has been high quality! I haven't tried any of the skincare yet. Not great for someone who loves color or likes to see swatches/tutorials. I'm light-to-medium skin and my favorite brands are Milk, Make, and Glossier. The negative: The pricing always seems hidden when shipping is included. If I receive the order each month, my $5 membership really feels like $13 because of shipping cost. I can usually get 1-2 items with my spending limit. By then, I'm spending ~20 on one or two items that I have no idea if I will like. So if you usually buy minis to try, it seems about the same. I would really love swatches on different skin tones. I am shooting in the dark without them, which is ok at first but not for long term. After a few months, I was running out of things I was interested in ordering, so I plan to end my membership. Samples with each order could be a good idea. The reviews are hard to read because of the layout (aligned center and spacing between letters). Would really love to see photos with reviews since there are no swatches. Or videos using the products.

The products I've ordered have been hit and miss. I have high hopes for the retinol hand cream but will wait until the tube is empty to decide. The eye shadow stick I recently ordered is a truly awful color ad goes on like cakey makeup, not soft and creamy like a higher end product. I tossed it immediately.
