BeatportReviews of beatport.com

They need to change their system that is running the hype services. Every week they are constantly duplicating same releases for sometimes more than 3 weeks. Hype seem like a scam for low budget labels that are just trying to get some recognition. Please fix this issue!

I get emails for specifics such as remixed but the link doesn't go to that page and I cannot search for it either. The site is very, very slow, it's like constipated. The other day I was 30 minutes from going live when half my playlist - tagged, hot cued - failed to load one track after the other. I had to cancel the show as there was too little time to work another playlist. It's non'profit so there are no funds for a more expensive sub which would include an offline locker. It's already expensive anyway! I am looking at alternatives but to be honest, there's not much competition and there are few places you can buy and download fresh new EDM, Trance, Nu Disco and House. It's incredable how the industry is forcing the streaming model onto the consumer and the likes of Beatport will give in to big label demand eventually.

Great selection but not worth the money unless you do all your music listening on a computer (or maybe iPhone. Don't have one don't want one.) Most functions don't work on androids silly web app. And it keeps logging me out. Spent hours just trying to get a playlist to continue to play.

Bought tracks, only to find they are not the full versions. They are ripped from a pre mixed album and someone simply cut them into track sections and tried (successfully) to sell them as full versions. They have no beginning and abruptly end, plus pitch is everywhere so they cant even be beat gridded. Complete and total ripoff. What am I supposed to do with these? I thought Beatport was a site for DJs to buy music? (Yes, reactivate trance albums, i'm talking about you. ripoff merchants). It was bad enough with all the dodgy vinyl rips being sold on Beatport but this... this is a league of its own.

I made my first and likely last purchase from beatport today. i'm writing this review because I have time to spare as I am waiting for my downloads. Correct I'm waiting for beatport to fullfill my order of 22 tracks which for unknown reasons all need to be downloaded separately. Even-though I bought several whole releases, the songs come separately and with an odd 7 digit number before the filename. No artwork files appear to be included with the EP's and albums I bought. This means that when I'm done downloading these tracks I will need to rename each file, create folders and sort the tracks in the correct folder. After that I will need to search the internet to find the coverart file(s) for the albums and EP's. All of this will likely take the rest of my afternoon. I love sites like Bandcamp and Juno-download that simply zip the order up in a file that comes organised in folders and can be downloaded with one single click .Why on earth would you make a music download service so cumbersome and complicated ?

I used to be able to recommend this site wholeheartedly, however they have changed their policies to not allow redownload of your purchased files outside of a 30 day period. It essentially means you are renting your music, and if you lose it from your computer, you have to repurchase it. Note that this policy is new in the last couple of years and Beatport gave no notification of the change to their terms of service, nor allowed any time for users to backup their files before the change. For this reason I would not recommend using this service.
