All Downhill After We Signed Up
Our experience with BambooHR went downhill almost immediately after we signed up and paid. The sales process was great. The sales team was responsive, helpful, and made us feel like BambooHR would make managing HR easier. Unfortunately, once the sale was complete, the level of service changed dramatically. The onboarding process has been frustrating, unnecessarily complicated, and far more self-service than we were led to expect—particularly considering that we paid an onboarding/account setup fee. We have repeatedly found ourselves trying to figure things out on our own, troubleshooting problems, searching through generic help materials, and struggling to get meaningful assistance when we actually need it. Support has also been disappointing. Responses can take days, phone hold times have been excessive, and the AI chat frequently provides generic information rather than actually helping resolve the problem. When we have finally reached someone, getting an issue resolved has still not necessarily been straightforward. What has been most frustrating is the amount of our own time we have had to spend figuring out why things aren't working as expected. At times, it has felt like we are doing the troubleshooting and quality assurance ourselves and then reporting the problems back to BambooHR. BambooHR advertises that it makes HR easier. Our experience has been quite the opposite. It has been unnecessarily complicated and difficult to get the support we need. Offering self-guided materials and scheduled webinars is not a replacement for providing actual assistance to a customer who paid for onboarding and needs help with their account. The contrast between the experience before and after the sale has been especially disappointing. Before we paid, getting help was easy. After we paid, it became considerably more difficult. For a company selling a product designed to simplify HR, the onboarding and support experience should not be this hard.
