Have been trying to get pricing for their service, but their sales people have consistently been shifty in the process of trying to obtain their pricing. Why can't companies just list out their pricing with transparency and integrity?

Clumsy and unintuitive product
Clumsy and unintuitive product; and support is all self-led as so hard to reach anyone. Initial implementation was poor and unfortunatly i have used google and chat threads to answer questions as i will wait 24-48 hrs for a response. (UK - USA time difference)
Support services need to be far more reactive, with staff taking more ownership of issues.

Buggy and slow response in fixing it
There is a bug in their signing document feature and they haven't resolved this for more than a month. They said they will inform me as soon as they have an update but there is no update unless I reach out to them.

Forced 15% price increase
We liked the platform, until they have forced a 15% charge increase with no benefit to our business.
This will make the platform not worth the cost and I will not get the increase approved.
Thoroughly disappointing as I will need to look for a new HRIS.

Hi Emma,
Thank you for your feedback! We’re constantly evaluating our products and plans to make sure that we’re empowering customers to meet their business needs as the HR landscape continue to evolve. Our Essentials and Advantage plans that you're referring to have been in service for over a decade, and we’ve been hard at work developing a completely reimagined BambooHR platform.
Sunsetting these legacy plans was not an easy choice, but it allows us to better focus on this exciting new platform era so that you have the tools you need to succeed both now and into the future.
A Customer Success Manager will reach out to you very shortly to review your options and the walk you through the new features available to you and your team. Thank you for being a BambooHR customer.

Average (bad) HR system.
Average (bad) HR system.
They do things to please HR managers only (the ones that decide to buy their service), and for the rest of employees/users experience they care nothing.

Hi Pablo,
Thank you for your feedback. We love hearing how we can improve the user experience.
We're sorry BambooHR is not meeting your expectations as an end user. Our Product team interviews and consults with both HR professionals and end users regularly to build the best possible product to help customers succeed and deliver value. If there is a specific area of the product you find difficult to use? We'd love to capture your feedback and pass it on to our Product team. Thank you!

Wasted 2 months of our time
Sales lied about integration with our payroll company, ADP. I brought up irregularities multiple times and was dismissed. After 2 months of wasting time trying to implement, we cancelled before going live because they could not deliver what they promised. Despite not actually using the software, Amanda Persaud Ford, refused to give a refund. This is a company culture based on sales through deception.

I recently spent over an hour on calls…
I recently spent over an hour on calls and a demo with BambooHR, during which they guaranteed a gift card that I never received. In addition to that, I tried their system and found it to be incredibly slow and unable to support multiple users efficiently. The platform’s performance was disappointing, and the overall experience was frustrating. Based on my interactions, I feel like BambooHR did not deliver on their promises, and I regret wasting my time with them. Be cautious—this feels like a scam. Save your time and look elsewhere for HR solutions.

Worst Interview Process
Please note: this review is of job candidacy and reviews the way BambooHR grossly mishandled the application and interview process.
Applied with BambooHR on May 16.
Initial recruiter interview with Miguel Varela was held May 21. I was told there’d be 3 more calls, after which a decision could be made.
Interviews with the hiring manager Steve Ballard and other participants took place over the next two weeks and the fourth call was held June 5 bringing the interview timeline to 20 days. At the end of the fourth call I was told a decision regarding next steps would be made by end of week, so when I hadn’t heard anything by mid-afternoon that Friday I emailed Emily Hansen in HR asking for an update and was told I’d have answers by middle of next week.
By June 13 I still hadn’t received an update so I emailed HR again and was now being told there’d be another final interview with the CPO Brian Crofts, after which a final decision would be made. Brian wasn’t available to speak for over a week so I had to wait until June 20 for this next step.
During what was now my fifth call Brian dropped unexpectedly halfway through so I sat alone in the meeting until its end hoping he’d hop back in or that someone would contact me explaining what was going on, but I waited in vain. I had to call HR 4 times and email once before someone called me back saying they had been forwarded my message and asked what was going on. Since I didn’t have the chance to ask a single question during my call with Brian I expressed that I wanted the opportunity to finish the call, and was told Brian would call or text on his way home from work that evening. Brian texted me around 8 PM but never called nor did he answer when I tried calling. Rather, he called the following day to finish the conversation, bringing my interview count to six. Brian informed me that he had one or two other candidates to speak with and that they should be making final decisions the following week (week of June 24). To his credit - my conversations with Brian were both insightful and promising, which gave me hope that we were on the right track.
Shortly thereafter I was told final decisions couldn’t be made until Steve Ballard had the chance to circle back with candidates for another call (making this my seventh), so it was scheduled for Thursday, June 27, after which he told me I could expect a final answer Friday or Monday at the latest.
When I hadn’t heard anything by mid-afternoon Monday I reached out to Steve directly, who gave me several excuses about why this process was being dragged out the way it was and promised I’d have an answer by Wednesday July 3.
On July 2 I received a call from a recruiter I’d never spoken to before that started the call with “I’m the guy they call in when there’s bad news to deliver.” and he proceeded to tell me the bad news was that a decision hadn’t yet been reached but promised I’d have an answer on Monday July 8.
Monday came and went without a call, email, or communication of any kind. After seven interviews, 53 days, and countless hours prepping for calls and following up on timelines and decisions BambooHR had officially ghosted me.
Tuesday July 9 I received a call from yet another recruiter I’d never spoke with telling me that I didn’t get the job but to please continue applying for other positions at Bamboo. This comment was laughable, as I was applying for a brand new, highly unique role for which there are no comparables, meaning this recruiter was absolutely clueless and was simply checking off a box by delivering this news.
In summary: the interview process with Bamboo went from 4 meetings to 7, took a total of eight weeks (54 days) to complete, and was postponed with assurances of a final decision no less than 4 times. To say it was an unprofessional experience doesn’t do it justice. Making an unfounded promise over a decision that has the power to change not only a candidate’s life but the lives of their family is one thing…to do it four times is wreckless, cruel, and should not go unshared.
What Bamboo has failed to realize is that treating candidates this way has far-reaching consequences to company culture, employee acquisition, and retention. If you say you’re hiring to build the very best teams but you treat candidates with blatant disrespect, what kinds of teams are you building, exactly?
What makes this especially ironic is that BambooHR is supposed to be an industry leader in the hiring and onboarding process, but they clearly aren’t applying those principles inward as was made painfully obvious throughout my experience. All that said, I cannot in good conscience recommend applying with this company to anyone, ever.
