We have been feeding our senior dog Badlands Beef formula for a few months. She did well on it and seemed to enjoy the taste. However, in our most recent shipment, we opened two bags and found mold inside. Our dog has had some new hotspots appear within the past week without any clear trigger and we didn't suspect the Badlands until we found the moldy food. Usually the bags have a desiccant pack, but the two moldy bags didn't have one. The bags were fully sealed, just stored on a shelf in a cool, dry pantry. We reported it to Badlands and they said they have never received a mold complaint before, but a few others on here mentioned it. We are going to move to homemade for a while and Badlands did give us a refund for the bad bags.

Good food - bad customer service
I’ve had one of my dogs on Badlands Ranch for about 6 months now, with no issues. I regularly purchase the beef superfood - my dog loves it, and it has greatly increased his energy and gut health. My issue is with their customer service. I ordered 9 bags of food when I realized I only had one new bag left (and the one I was currently using). I got an email saying it was shipped a day or two later. However, for a week, the shipping status wasn’t updated on the tracking link (ie it was saying a label had been created but it hadn’t been shipped yet). I was now starting to run out of food, and had no indication as to when the food would arrive. My dog has a very sensitive stomach, so i couldn’t just feed him something else - I needed to use the last of my badlands to transition him to something else if it wasn’t going to arrive on time. So, I reached out to customer service, and explained that although i received a shipping email a week ago, it appears from the tracking link that it hasn’t been shipped, and requested a status update. I got a scripted email 2 days later essentially saying “here’s a link to the tracking” (which I already had, and indicated in my initial email that I already had).
Fast forward to after I receive my order the week after that. I open up the first bag and immediately notice that it looks different from the food I’ve previously received over the last 6 months. It’s extremely light in color and very very hard. I figured it must have just been a variation in the air drying process and fed it to my dog. After 2 days of eating it, he started having terrible diarrhea. I reached out to customer service letting them know I think I got a bad batch, and didn’t want to open up all 9 bags to see if they were all like this, wanted to exchange them for new bags, etc. They did issue me a refund, but she noted that they “wouldn’t do this again” and I could “switch foods if I wanted to”. There was no hostility through our call, I never indicated I didn’t want to buy this food again (in fact, I told her my dog had been doing great on this food, and that’s why this was an anomaly and it must have just been a bad batch). It left a bad taste in my mouth, because she’s essentially saying that if I get a bad batch in the future I’ll just have to deal with it or go with another food. So with that being said I am looking for another high quality food to swap my dog to, as this wasn’t the type of customer service I’d expect from badlands.

Wonderful Great Dane treats.
This food is good and I'm sure wonderful but the Appalachian but I believe there's something wrong with your app since I had to cancel my order. I had it at 3 months and it started coming every month. Which I can't forward and I can't get my money refunded. I can't use this as a the major dog food. For my great Danes, that would be unrealistic. They'd eat 2 bags a day. I wanted to try this because I am a big fan of Heidi.
Since I've had this taken out of my checking account this month and I'm on disability. I guess this one's on me but I know. I canceled this order.

Price compared to quantity
I hate to admit this but if I would have realized how small the bags of food are for the price I would have never spent $39.95 for a bag much less another $35.95 for a second bag. This is a complete rip off. The bag of food is like buying a 20 oz water battle filled with food. Terrible; only people buying this food has to be millionaires or related to the owner. I can't believe I was suckered by the pitch

Most recent shipment was drying and hard…
Most recent shipment was dry and hard compared to the food my dogs loved. It was on sale. Buyer beware. Dogs had no interest in it, but loved it before. Very disappointed in response when requested to question it and return it. I have to pay Shipping to return for unsatisfactory shipment?? That is not a money back guarantee!!

Way too expensive yet promoted as "affordable"!
To be honest I was incredibly excited to try this food, my dog Reba is my our baby! She is a 90lb Rottweiler who is an actual service animal for me. The cost of this food for one month for her is literally more than we spend on two months of groceries.
I watched so many videos and went through several different options of healthy dog food and chose this seeing as it was so called "affordable". Our combind income is above the average household and this is by far the most expensive option and disappointing.
The three bags ran for around $100 (with a discount at that). All three would last my dog a little over a week and half. I asked to return the order, seeing as we can not afford that pricetag and was met with having to pay for shipping, not receiving the refund until the order is confirmed delivered to them and than have wait 3-5 business days for the returned funds. It took over two weeks to arrive to me and yet I have to pay to return something I'm dissatisfied with.
My dog does like the food so we decided to keep it, after given the advice from the sales person on the phone to make it a topper to her not so expensive food which is still pretty pricey, However, I did find that option redundant to their entire message.
I really did believe that this was a company that not only cared for dog health but also could make it affordable for all pet lovers not just the wealthy. Seeing that's not the case I beg the question (understanding this is a business) when do you draw the line drawn between profits and greed?

I've tried to ease my Tervuren into…
I've tried to ease my Tervuren into this food but his stomach just can't handle it as there is something in the ingredients that upsets his digestion. He is allergic to chicken which upsets his stomach just as much as this dog food does, so my first guess was they are including chicken somehow, but supposedly there is no chicken in this food. The price for this food is a bit absurd...which puts it into a category where an extremely low percentage of the dog population can enjoy it and benefit from the ingredients (if they are beneficial...?). Additionally, their email marketing campaign (which you opt-into once you buy from their website) is extremely aggressive, which I found annoying. If you decide to purchase from their site, you will be given an opportunity to purchase more bags at a deep discount during the checkout process (another form of upselling, which is aggravating). A great product will sell on its own by word of mouth, there is no need to upsell during checkout or to aggressively market to consumers to 'buy more of our stuff'. Anyway, I'm not a fan of this dog food or the business model behind it (at least in regards to their marketing plan). However, if my dog could stomach the food, I would have probably incorporated it into his diet somehow because the ingredient list seemed worthwhile, but for now I'll stick with home cooking for each of my dog's meals.
