I purchased an adult male green iguana from this place and I cannot be any more upset and pissed off. The little guy came in the box without a heat pack. When I brought him inside he was insanely cold to the touch and wasn’t moving. I thought he was dead. I’ve had the little guy for a little over a month and he doesn’t eat on his own is losing weight and his spines are a constantly down. He doesn’t poop that often either.I’ve had to resort to force feeding him. I am going to be taking him to the vet as soon as possible. He came very skinny as well. I have him in a huge 6.5 foot tall cage by 7 foot long with all the correct heating and lighting fixtures. He also has the correct humidity levels. He has a couple large plants in there with him as well. And plenty of big and branches to climb on. I hope he pulls through. If I could rate this crap shoot 0 I would. Don’t ever buy from here unless you want to rescue a reptile from a terrible place

If I could give this company a zero I would. Went through Backwater Reptiles without having seen the most recent reviews. I ordered a pair (2) oak toads for $62. The site showed them as in stock. Shortly after paying, I was contacted by Brittney, their sales person. She stated that when they went to box them up, they realized that they had none. I thought this was odd, but okay. I asked her to replace them with Southern toads. Again, I was told there were none despite the 'in stock' message on the site. She then emailed me trying to get me to purchase marine toads, which were twice the price. I asked for a refund and she went completely silent for the rest of the day. Got an email the following day that stated they refunded my order. I asked the bank to keep an eye on it. Backwater Reptiles charged the card $62 regardless of the 'refund' and when I emailed Brittney just keeps responding "talk to your bank". I will never give this company my money again. This whole thing is one big scam. Spend the extra $20 for shipping on another reputable site.

I had high hopes. I was so excited to get my baby White’s tree frog! She came on time but when she got here i realized how small she really was. Since I got her a month ago she has eaten twice, is very frail, isn’t growing, and is very lethargic. Not to mention one of her eyes looks to be infected. I have been keeping close tabs on her and at first before noticing her eye I thought maybe she was lonely and needed a friend. I ordered another white’s but this time from Josh’s frogs. After checking out online I was shocked at how much different the process was. Josh’s guarantees live arrival (no loopholes) and only ships if it is safe conditions. When my new frog got here she was twice the size, much more active and eating no problem. I took out the baby from Backwater and put her in a quarantine container with lots of food and water and warmth and am waiting to see if I can find a vet. This is a very sick frog and I feel awful for her. After reading reviews of Backwater I decided that I will be contacting Josh’s for advice instead and will have nothing to do with Backwater again. Long story short, Backwater ships out frogs that are much too young and sick and they have terrible customer service and their LAG is not upheld (even if they will send you another frog you have to pay the $40 shipping again). ORDER FROM JOSH’S NOT BACKWATER.

Ordered 2 chameleons and 3 frogs, all adults because I expected some essence of ethical business. All died within a year. I suspect they were old breeding stock they couldn't use anymore. If you MUST order from them, order babies, or they will most likely send you animals they have bred and retired. Terrible business, just save your money and use it on ethical breeders that care about you and care about the animals.

Ordered a gecko and waited till it was supposed to be shipped to tell me they dont have that one picked another and took to long to get back to me so had to wait 4 more days after it was supposed to be here to get it. Never going threw them again ❌
