I received a Asian water monitor was expecting a baby got one a few months older no biggie what I am upset about is it was sick barley eating barley active eyes were always closed had the monitor for a week on this day on Tuesday 20th of this month received monitor today woke up to it not moving or breathing realized it was no longer alive and I’m trying to figure out what or how we are going to go about this I either want my refund back or a freshly knew baby lizard got videos of how it was acting want proof of life and how it was acting my number is 19714709336 feel free to get ahold of me much appreciated

My snake showed up withen 24 hrs of shipping but thata were the good service stopped. My snake out of the box was half tarded and couldnt close its mouth. With n a week it died durring its first shed, by that time it never closed its mouth. I e-mailed back water several times including pictures and they kept comming up with reasons why they couldnt send another snake or refund me. In the end they basically told me to go F myself. I have friends who own reptile stores all over but I wanted to try BackWaterReptiles against a couple of theirs advice. BackWater Reptiles is not even close to a safe bet, dont order from them unless you want to watch your new pet die!

I purchased a Russian Tortoise and it never shipped. I sent a message asking why and they said they cancelled the order. That they don’t ship to Alaska. They never messaged me to let me know. I only got 2 receipts and a your order is being processed 2 days after purchase. Their website says they ship to EVERY state except Hawaii. Bad business.

This company rips people off! I ordered a snake from them that on their website says was in-stock. I then get a email from them saying that it's not in-stock and offered me an adult female boa. I emailed them back several times asking them questions about the female boa and a price difference. When they finally returned an email to me since their phone goes to a voice mail then says that it is full and hangs up, saying that a price difference is 200 dollars more they want me to give them. I told them I did not want it and to refund my money. Well they send you a transaction receipt from a third-party saying that it was refunded. A couple days go by and the money was removed from my bank account. I contact backwater reptiles to find out when and where my refund is. They respond saying it was never refunded that it was voided so no refund is needed. I reply saying the money was taken out of my account so a refund is in order. I get another email from a different person saying that it was in fact a refund and that it's an issue with my bank.. I replied that I have contacted my bank and it is not an issue with the bank but with there company. I advised backwater reptiles that I was filling a police report for this. The money was taken out of my bank account and was never returned. This company is a scam and is ripping people off right and left. I have emails and bank statements proving my facts.

If I could give this company a F and have it SHUT DOWN I WOULD DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. THE Iguanas they sent me Horrible, aggressive and sores everywhere. 1. They put them both in one bag one killed that other one and the one dead got so many healing sores you can tell it was in a fight or even multiple fights. NEVER BUY FROM THE THEY ARE LIERS AND AS EVERYONE ELSE SAID Customer service is horrible, mind you the customer service this through email only cause this company don’t have a phone witch is crazy.

Horrible!! Ordered a tarantula for my daughter and it came barely alive and died within a couple hours. Emailed the company and they said that they could mail us another but we would have to pay shipping, or they could refund us the cost of the tarantula minus the shipping. ..don’t buy into their guarantee. Customer service is horrible. Also the tarantula they mailed us was tiny!! Like the size of my pinky nail. No wonder it didn’t live! ...found two Tarantula’s for the price of the one from Backwater reptiles at a local exotic pet store. SHOP LOCAL.

Would give zero stars. Wish I had read reviews before letting my boyfriend order from this company. They definitely do not care about their animals at all. We got a baby uromastyx and "he" arrived with a broken arm and no function in one hand. We learned from taking him to a vet after a week that he probably sustained a CRUSHING INJURY several weeks before we even got him. So sad poor little guy might never have normal functioning of his hand/arm it just drags limp :(. The company did not disclose this injury nor could they provide any information on the living conditions of the animal when it was in their care. Also we ordered a male and it is seeming more and more like it is a female. They also claimed our uro to be captive bred but hearing from others who have dealt with them it is also likely he was a wild caught lizard and has clearly been through a lot of trauma. Glad we saved our little guy from these terrible sales people! Do yourself a favor and get your pet from a known local breeder instead who knows what they're doing.

Backwater Reptiles has terrible customer service, and is a disengenuous and dishonest company. They are NOT customer oriented whatsoever. Their phone does not work; always says mailbox is full. So no way to verbally reach them. Their advertised animal prices on their website are often different from the actual price (always more expensive) when you try to purchase the critter. And many items that are sold out are advertised as present in the store. Most importantly, this company is not interested in customer comments. When I emailed specific questions they refused to answer them. I would be VERY careful purchasing from a company that shows disinterest in helping their customer.
