I was surprised that I was able to hear the heartbeat at 14 weeks as I wasn't expecting to until around 16 or more. This is my first pregnancy and having the doppler really gave me peace of mind. It's best to have a friend help you and calm you down if you are expecting to instantly hear the heartbeat. It takes patience and a little searching!
