Went on a Azamara cruise and while on cruise booked another with the cruise line.
Later contacted by Iglu who said the cruise had been booked through them which was untrue. Unfortunately due to family needs we had to cancel or move cruise. Azamara no help what so ever. No offers of moving cruise or refund offered by either company. The cruise was nearly two years away and large deposit lost, Using another cruise line now with lots of help and great communications.

Initially was interested in a European cruise. I asked for an online quote. Within a couple of minutes, I received a phone call. I now think this was a sign of either a desperate agent or company. Nonetheless, I asked for a quotation for 2 sailing possibilities. Received one quote and not another. Then started to receive invoices looking for payment. I emailed the agent and said I didn't order anything. He said he would look into it. But both my wife and I continued to receive invoices for payment. My sense is that their strategy is to scatter- blast prospective sailors and hope they can corral a few into paying for cruises that were never ordered. This practice is sleazy and underhanded. I will never do business with a firm that operates this way.

AZAMARA QUEST SUSPECTED HANTAVIRUS CASE
AZAMARA QUEST - SUSPECTED HANTAVIRUS VIRUS CASE
A very healthy lady was taken off ship with no previous medical history or issues after suffering with a headache and then sickness, she attended the medical suite approx 10:45, on the 8th May, she was then taken off the ship at Crotone at approximately 2pm and taken by ambulance to the local hospital.
She was diagnosed with a high temperature, her white blood cells were down and a liver and kidney infection, she was catheterised and a battery of tests and drips, the following day they advised my partner that she had pneumonia, then maybe sepsis, she had further scans, they told my partner that she had suspected hantavirus after showing all the symptoms she was emergency airlifted to another hospital and suffered a cardiac arrest in the helicopter to Germaneto hospital a much larger hospital in Catanzaro Italy.
Her condition has further deteriorated.
She has since been put into an induced coma, her heart is at 25% capacity and her organs are failing.
On coming back onto the ship, on the 9th May, I met with the captain and one of the crew-members who confirmed there are no viruses on the ship, when I expressed my concerns and told them what the hospital had told us, and asked what the policies are, I was told that are none because hantavirus is a new disease.
It was also disclosed in this meeting the name of the passenger the condition of the passenger and the treatment of the passenger who had been medically evacuated the previous night on a diversion to Italy, without them realising this was NOT my sister-in-law, totally breaching data protection.
I had another meeting with them approximately two hours later as I was chasing for an update, to be told that they’ve had an email from the hospital and there was no hantavirus. I asked to see the copy of an email but I was told I couldn’t, It was then confirmed that they had emailed the second hospital and not the first.
The email that they read out was not clear, I asked them to respond to the first hospital and ask clear questions. I requested a copy of the email, after chasing this on the 10th May, I was told that I couldn’t have it as I wasn’t next of kin.
I asked what procedures they had put in place for a ‘suspected’ hantavirus case I was told none I asked why they had increased hand sanitising in the restaurant on the 10th May to be told they’re having a sanitising inspection in some of the ports coming up. I asked which port, once again I was told I couldn’t have this information.
The second hospital are battling to save her life and Azamara claim they have asked them for a hantavirus test sometime after 7pm on the 9th May.
I have requested health checks for myself and 2 remaining guests, which have taken place, on the second visit a whole load of medical questions were asked and travel history for the last 8 weeks, yet they claim that is no suspected case on board
Response from Azamara CruisesMay 15, 2026
There is no case of hantavirus onboard Azamara Quest, and reports suggesting otherwise are false.
A guest left the ship as a result of a medical situation. We cannot comment on private guest medical matters; our shipboard and shoreside teams have worked closely with the guest’s family and local medical providers, and we have remained focused on providing appropriate support and assistance with care and compassion.

I have always found their cruises to be a lovely experience, but their land based customer service is absolutely appalling. They changed our cruise length without notice, offering compensation, then refused to pay out what was owed.

Very disappointing
I had many conversations with customer services after booking regarding my access to my online account, continuously being told it was being looked into, it was never completely sorted.
The cruise is sold as a luxury experience, in my opinion this is not the case at all. The ship is old and tired, it actually looks pretty battered. The cabins are pretty dull and the bathrooms must be the smallest at sea, every time you shower the awful shower curtain wraps around you. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly either, there was some kind of soup/ stew in the fridge, shoes under the bed and previous passengers birthday card amongst the papers on the dresser. The entertainment was really poor, the worst I have experienced on any ship. The restaurant food was average, definitely not 5*.The buffet was very bland and boring. The waiting and bar staff are the only real positive.
If only they were half as good as they think they are. Obviously won’t be going back.

No compassion or understanding of what is important in life
We are extremely disheartened by the lack of empathy and understanding shown by Azamara Cruises in light of a deeply personal and tragic event. My wife and I had planned a five week holiday including a cruise with Azamara. Just three days before our departure, my beloved father-in-law passed away. We understood that our travel insurance wouldn't cover the delay however we made the conscious and respectful decision to postpone our trip by two weeks, simply to be able to attend his funeral. This unfortunately meant missing our scheduled flight and cruise departure dates. While our airline, accommodation and other companies responded with minimal penalties - Azamara's reaction was starkly different. Despite explaining the situation and providing a copy of the death certificate via our travel agent, we were met with rigid policies and a lack of human consideration. The first piece of feedback was 'that's what travel insurance is for'. Subsequently the only offer is a credit of $5,169 toward a future cruise, valid for 12 months - whilst keeping the balance of the $12,258 we had already paid. No full credit, no refund, no re-schedule, and no empathy. It was in this moment we realised, some companies simply do not care about their customers beyond the transaction. To be treated with such indifference during an already painful time is both a shocking and disappointing. For this reason, we cannot in good conscience recommend Azamara Cruises to anyone. When choosing a company for your holidays, particularly something as personal and expensive as a cruise, compassion and flexibility should matter. Unfortunately Azamara failed on both counts.

they did not give six free nights his promised.
I usually love the peace I have . however, apparently I had six free nights when I hit a certain level and absolutely nobody told me this not by phone call not by email not by mail and when I just contacted them, they said oh it expired in December 20 24. You’re out of luck all those thousands of dollars I spent all those years. Nobody contacted me about six free nights. I can’t believe this.
