Automateed's Value Proposition is Still Evolving
The whole picture of Automateed. Now. As seen through my own eyes. I found automateed soon after it started in late 2023/early 2024 through my daily TAAFT email. At the time I was just starting out in the world of self-publishing and was testing different book-producing AIs, and this one got tossed into the rotation. At that time the AIs that promised to produce print-ready books of any type were woefully inadequate, and this one landed in that category. It did, however, produce content that was better than Designnr or some of the others that were crowding the targeted ads being sent to clutter up my browsing experience, so I chose to buy a lifetime subscription at what was the entry-level tier. The Automateed app/program/platform (Sorry, I don't know the correct pronoun. Hopefully no one is offended.) At that time, Automateed was a lot smaller and had substantially fewer features than it does now. When I started using Automateed it was only useful for creating non-fiction books, and those were only commercially viable after extensive editing to remove metaphors about a journey, adverbs, similes, Em dashes, and those annoying words and phrases that AI uses but real people do not. That led to me using only parts of the content created with Automateed in my finished works. I was still saving time, so it was all good, but other tools I was using were evolving fast and I didn't use Automateed in any serious capacity for a number of months. It was during this time that I was able to explore the limits of what Automateed could produce. At the time, the book outline and creation process were much different than they are now. At the time, there was not a whole lot you could do to guide the AI in creating the content you were looking for and delivering it in the right tone. While it was possible to produce useful content, it rarely did so on the first try. It only cost 1 book credit no matter how many chapters or subchapters were in the outline to produce an ebook. After a brief separation, I came back and saw that Automateed added several new features while I was ignoring it. There were some very good, very useful new tools and tasks, as well as some helpful bits of information where users would most benefit from their placement. When it comes down to books and the quality of the content, Automateed has come a looooong way from where it started. If you take the time to learn how to use the tools inside Automateed you can create publish-quality assets that you can sell on Google Play books, Gumroad, Amazon, IngramSpark, Apple books, et al. These are true statements and you can verify them if you check. I can hear all the lost wanna-be hippies, raising their hands to the heavens and imploring their gods to grant them immunity from the world they created. The attitude you have now is probably something like, "Okay, smart guy, you say it's better than before, and maybe it is. But here's the rub...I'm not bending over like Donald Trump for an adolescent boy and taking this shit." "That's fair enough. Let me tell you what I think matters about it." "New elements such as the 'author's voice' feature to set the tone of the output is a great addition. This one feature alone elevates Automateed's end results to levels that are substantially better than when I started using it, it is better than the other tools I use. My complaints about Automateed are few, simple, and mostly use-case specific. The first is the implementation of higher token costs for each ebook based solely on the number of chapters/subchapters in a books outline, without any corresponding increase in quality or depth. Now users are being forced to swallow the original stated value plus the present cost that they can't tap into without becoming a target. I will not say that it is a bad or useless tool because of this. On the contrary, I will say that next to interactive AIs like ChatGPT or Claude, Automateed is one of the best book writing tools you can use to produce books or book content. After the generic, repetitive content compliance is assumed and you agree to be subject to sanctions should you violate some sacred unwritten rules, you're good to move ahead with editing and publishing the content. Because as good as it might be now, it is still produced by AI and will read like it was produced AI. Last thing I'll address, and only because others have mentioned it in their reviews, is customer service. My experience up to now has been largely positive until the last issue I emailed about. I won't go as far as some and say that Stefan is rude. His email responses might seem short or direct, but I never felt like he was being rude. I did receive a response with an excuse for why I had the issue and what was being done to address it. My email reply seeking clarification, however, did not receive a response.
