Highly recommend The team at Atticus is all round service oriented and helpful. One of the best companies at providing fast, easy service and help. On top of that, a great product.

Atticus is book writing and formatting software built for authors, by authors and people who understand the publishing journey from first draft to final upload. Whether you're working on your debut novel or your tenth nonfiction release, Atticus brings writing, formatting, and exporting into one straightforward tool. No more juggling Word docs, formatting software, and a dozen browser tabs just to get your manuscript ready for print or ebook.Atticus is designed for every kind of author: the first-time indie writer publishing their debut, the seasoned professional managing a backlist, and everyone in between. Fiction or nonfiction, published or aspiring, we want Atticus to feel like it was made with your specific process in mind, because it was.Beyond the software, we've built a genuinely supportive community of authors who share their wins, ask questions, and help each other along the way. We're always listening to feedback and rolling out new features (like our recent Image Management update) based on what real authors tell us they need.Writing a book is hard enough. Formatting and exporting it shouldn't be. That's what Atticus is here for.

The site is great and perfect for my needs. When there is an issue, which isn't often, their customer service is excellent. I'm extremely happy on the whole.

I do not think this product is ready for the market - or at least it is not ready to be used on Mac computers, despite what the website says. The features are great, no doubt, but I've been using this program for over a year now, and the number of bugs and technical issues is UNREAL. Yes, support gets back to you with ideas for fixes...but they are time-consuming and frustrating. Every time I think we've found a way around one issue, a new one pops up. Right now, the chapter subtitles are spaced differently from chapter to chapter. Support wants me to rebuild the entire theme from scratch to see if that will help. Spend a little more and get a more established program. The amount of time it will save you is worth it. I have nothing but regrets.

It's finally (after like four years) starting to get better and show improvements. But, god for all the hassles I've had to deal with--lost chapters, program randomly closing, not saving, not backing up correctly, limited formatting options... It's been a huge pain in the as* over the years. Customer service used to be useless, too. I haven't even bothered opening tickets anymore because of it, so idk about now. Hopefully they continue to invest in making the system and support better. Even so, as of now, I would only recommend it to people who are looking for a cheaper option to format their books.

Pretty good. It saves a lot of time, makes my books look pro, and there's no awful subscription like Adobe. No wonder Adobe's stock price is crashing. There are a few major problems with Atticus that need fixing though: - There's no Feedback button on the website, so I had to post my thoughts here. Please add a Feedback button. - There's no Referral button. I honestly want to add a referral link to Atticus to my Link Tree (say for 5% off if you use my link), but there's literally no referral link and I literally have no idea why. - If you paste text into Atticus, it fixes most of the formatting apart from the scene breaks. Importing a doc.x will convert the *** into a scene break, but pasting the text won't. And there's no way to just use the Replace All function to replace the *** with a scene break. This is a such a pain. - The massive problem with Atticus is that if your book is written like a serial (for example, Book 1 / Part 1, Chapter + Subtitle), there is no way to format the Contents page for this. You are forced to only use Chapter and Subtitle, so if your book is split into 4 Parts with individual Acts (like mine are) you are screwed. Please fix this massive problem. But overall, definitely pay for the Atticus software if you're a writer who wants professional looking books.

Atticus is a genuinely good and easy-to-use tool. The interface is intuitive, the output looks professional, and communication with the support team via email was always friendly, responsive, and pleasant. Unfortunately, there is one critical issue for my use case: the PDFs generated by Atticus are processed in such a way that they no longer contain machine-readable or even copyable text. This makes them unsuitable for further conversion into an eBook. My publisher does not accept EPUB files and only works with PDFs. As a result, I am forced to switch to a different tool, even though I would otherwise be very happy with Atticus. What makes this especially disappointing is that the issue could likely be solved with a simple export option, allowing users to choose between maximum compression and a text-based PDF. Unfortunately, Atticus showed no willingness to acknowledge the problem or provide a solution. In its current form, the software is simply unusable for my publishing workflow, and the money I spent on it was effectively wasted. That is a real shame, because without this issue I would have been happy to recommend the product.

Hey Carlo! Based on what you mentioned here, you might have a bit better luck with your publisher exporting your file as a .docx instead :) Atticus export PDFs and EPUB files that are ready to publish, allowing you to avoid the extra steps and hassles that regular PDF can give when getting ready to upload. So, if you are working with a publisher that doesn't accept EPUB or print ready PDFs, we'd suggest trying the .docx. Hopefully that does the trick here in your situation!

OMG I am a writer and I have no words for how amazing Atticus is for my everyday work. It has come so far in the last 12 months and provides me with the expert editing tools I need to produce the most amazing books ever.

Over the years I have formatted 10 books in Atticus. Using the presets and saved master pages for Author Bio, Also By… etc. I could upload and format a book in an hour or less. If I was not perfectionist and did not look at every page it would be even faster. I’ve done fiction and nonfiction and uploaded images with ease. Of course there’s a learning curve. But the abundance of helps and YouTube vids gets you crackin’ in no time. Customer service is fast and personal. Wonderful
