Atmosphere PressReviews of atmospherepress.com

My debut novel Beneath the Smiling Moon was handled with love, attention, and care. From the acceptance email and working with Alex to the final print and production working with Cam, I have zero complaints. I have a professionally edited and well put together novel that will live on in the hands of my children. If I publish again, it will no doubt be with Atmosphere.

Atmosphere press published my first novel and has been a pleasure to work with. Everyone there is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.

I wrote for many years but felt really stumped when thinking about publishing; just beyond my capacity to engage in “how to publish.” And I had never written earnestly in prose, as poetry had been my singular passion. I’d sent a few poems to sites in Poetry Magazine where I saw an add for Atmosphere Press. I did have my memoir written and thought I’d send it to them. I was actually surprised by their assistance from the beginning to end. Actually they gave me perhaps more freedom than I imagined—to really make the text mine. It still needs some work and more narrative development in the second half. But that’s a reason for another book. I’m not proud of my story, but wanted to get it out of my mind before moving on. So I won’t make much effort in advertising this particular book. Anyway, the story is there and I think it’s interesting! Thank You Atmosphere Press! Ted Garrison (For Missionary Kid Talks)

I published my second book with Atmosphere. It was a far better, more professional, more responsive experience than with my previous book

Atmosphere Press wishes to make a welcoming experience for writers. As a hybrid press, they have access to traditional book publishers, but also allow for self-publishing. A traditional book publisher has a choice of investing in a first-time writer, albeit a risky situation for them. But, while Atmosphere reviews manuscripts (I know because I was given detailed feedback at the outset), staff also provides effective and helpful editing feedback, achieves dynamic covers and organizes details that a new writer would never be aware of. Yes, you pay for these services, instead of a traditional publisher taking a percentage from your sales. I knew that from the outset. As part of the Atmosphere family, I retain 99% of the rights to my book. I get choices with Atmosphere, instead of a traditional publisher buying my book, then possibly shelving the manuscript for years or even changing the content since traditional publishers own the rights once you sell. I am also impressed that Writers Digest supports Atmosphere Press, that I have received good reviews and nationally-recognized awards for my books. Thanks to their promotion package, yes another cost, I experienced 5-star feedback from nationally-known reviewers which promoted my books more successfully. Atmosphere has been incredibly transparent about costs and is a welcome alternative between scammer publishers and traditional options. They support my creativity, welcome my feedback, work with me to create the book that my manuscript needs to be.

I was very satisfied with my experience with Atmosphere Press. My Managing Editor, Alex was very responsive, Ronaldo and his team did a wonderful job with my cover, my Developmental Editor, Tina Cane was great, and Cam and Hayla were also very good to work with and Evan has been great to work with on my website.

The agents always kept me informed. They did the best editing job of any of the other companies (7-9) I have had. I made some special requests, and they readily obliged. They are publishing my book, Through the Eye of a Needle, on September 3. Clement DeWall
