Atmosphere PressReviews of atmospherepress.com

I can't remember how I found Atmosphere Press, but I am thrilled that I did. They provide services at every level of the publication process. Their developmental editors are grade A. I learned many excellent techniques from my editor. The managers at every step stay in touch often. The art group is great too, from the book cover to the publication package. It is so cool to see your cover on a poster. The publishing side of the house is great as well. The interior group really supported the changes we wanted after getting the proof copy of the book. My first book with Atmosphere Press is the first one in my crime series. I plan to come back to them with the rest of the novels in the series.

Be careful of this company. From the very beginning, the team made one mistake after the other. My original text docs and photo files were perfectly numbered and ordered, and I included detailed instructions about text and placement of images, yet on two separate occasions, they used wrong images an captions, even though my notes to them showed them correctly. Finally, after a few months of going back and forth, they used an old text file (instead of the recently edited one) to do the layout. That's when I contacted the owner, but he, in return, blamed the whole thing on me instead of apologizing and taking responsibility to correct his company's mistake. He decided to "terminate" my contract; he kept almost $1,500 of my money, and he returned the same amount. His correspondences and his attitude were arrogant, cocky, and unprofessional. And nobody ever bothered to offer an apology for messing up the manuscript by using old files which were named and dated as previous versions. The whole experience was terribly unprofessional, unethical, and downright nasty. There is very little direct communication from author to the others involved in the project, and their contractors are all over the world, making the process laborious and impersonal. In the end, I took his partial refund and I gladly moved on to self-publishing with Ingram and amazon. Instead of their high-priced marketing packages, I did it all myself, to great results. It's taken me over one year to leave this review. The owner Nick can say whatever he wants in response, but I'm here to tell you to be wary of this company.

The entire team from start to finish has been nothing but amazing. My editor, my cover designer, interior designer, and so, so many more have made this entire process so rewarding. I have learned so much about the process, and I’m thankful I chose to do the Flagship on my debut novel. It truly is like getting a traditional publisher, but with the added benefit of having the final say in what I want to publish.

My experience of working with Atmosphere press has been one of mutual respect, effective collaboration and continuous learning and growth. I highly recommend them as a publisher

I just published my first novel with Atmosphere. I knew nothing about the process and am not very technical, so I needed a lot of guidance. At every step of this process, Atmosphere's experts were consistently patient, positive, and kind. They provided the steady support I needed to make my first publishing experience a great one. It's been an honor to work with such a competent staff. I hope to publish my sequel with them.

Each professional along the publication process was exceptional. They guided and supported me throughout the journey. Atmosphere Press has been wonderful to work with, from acquisitions to editing to cover design. Post publication support is also excellent.

I have had a great experience with AP. It can be very daunting when self publishing a book but AP took care of everything that I would have otherwise struggled with on my own. Really enjoyed the experience.

Choosing a self-publisher is risky. a quick google search will produce many possibilities. I went with Atmosphere because I had a friend who was working with them on her book. Atmosphere was the right choice. I just published my second book through them. What struck me is that the staff I worked with gave off vibes that they loved books and literature. I found in both instances the staff to be approachable and helpful through all stages of the projects from initial review through proofreading and cover design to finished product. Thank you, Atmosphere, for the support you provide for writers. It is truly an "author's home."
