A call to pressure for more money!
Each year, our family chooses one charity to support so that over time we can help a variety of worthy organizations. For 2026, we selected the ASPCA and have been faithfully donating since January. Today, I received a phone call from the ASPCA thanking me for my support—but then asking me to increase my donation. They mentioned what I currently give and repeatedly encouraged me to give more. When I explained that I wasn't able to increase my donation at this time, they continued to press the issue instead of accepting my answer. I finally told them that the conversation was making me reconsider my entire donation. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. Today I canceled my recurring donation and will instead support a local animal shelter for the remainder of the year. In all the years we've donated to charities, I've never had one call and make me feel like what we were already giving wasn't enough. It was disappointing because every donation, no matter the amount, should be appreciated.
