I signed up, did the ai interview and was shortlisted for three projects. I was accepted onto one, but it all stalled when I attempted to verify my identity. It took Ethos 5 days to tell me the system was unable to complete verification; no reason given and no link to retry. They did send me the link to email support - two emails sent, zero response. Frustrating. The project was in my field and the hourly rate was good - it appears their system lacks that human touch.

Don't work here: Homogeneity at it's peak and most detrimental
TLDR: Stay away from this job and this company. The money is not worth your sanity, personality, and soul.
I worked for the company for over two months as a grader of powerpoint slides created by the Ethos AI. The rubrics and standards with which they expected their staff to grade and consider AI modeling/examples would change on the whim of whoever decided that day. They did not adhere to a singular format of critique, changed it constantly, did not defer to any outside expertise, and did not communicate this in a timely manner. Many, many requests contradicted other requests. Any question about workflow or content or clarification of pay raised was offloaded to their own faulty and unhelpful AI that responded with "we'll get a real person on that", then take days if not weeks to respond, without any actual resolution.
Essentially, you as a grader of what is slop vs. not slop from AI were asked to follow and adhere to an extrememly faulty rubric that misqualified and misidentified hallmarks of actual good writing, and were you to deviate from this ever changing rubric, you'd be asked to revise your suggestions, reasons, and comments with no clear direction or feedback, and the approval of pay for your hours spent working on said projects would be witheld as collateral until a human would approve it.
Often, you won't be actually grading the AI model itself. Instead, you'll spend time in training, days and weeks of pointless training, that is in fact so benign and beneath you (they give you the answers and then ask you redundant questions to answer to prove that you did in fact answer the questions initially), your time is being taken for granted.
You will not be training this AI. Instead the whole job, I would posit, is actually an insidious and deceptive way to train YOU to write, think, conceptualize the way the company, Ethos, and their AI wants you to think, effectively, brainwashing you, robbing you of your voice, character, opinion, and devaluing any particular method of critique or inquiry you've come to understand your specific domain of expertise.
This is homogeneity at it's peak and most detrimental. You will be trained by the AI, not train the AI.
Stay away from this job and this company. The money is not worth your sanity, personality, and soul.

Ask Ethos is a badly run operation
Ask Ethos is a badly run operation. As far as anyone can tell, there’s no real human behind it. Contributors are offboarded by AI with no explanation, no review and no one to appeal to. Payments are a mess, and people who put in the hours are still waiting to be paid what they’re owed. The QA system is broken. Feedback we write by hand, with real effort, gets stamped as AI. Actual AI-written feedback sails through as human. Whoever or whatever is doing these reviews has no idea what they’re looking at. Honest workers are punished while the system rewards the opposite. If you value your time, think twice before working for Ask Ethos.

Feels like a data skimming exercise
Feels like a data skimming exercise.
1. No way to contact for any help - not even an AI agent, 2. can not logout so profile always publicly accessible, 3. can not delete profile or 'account' - this is just plain wrong.
Stay away.

AI interviews are so bad they're almost…
AI interviews are so bad they're almost humourous if they weren't taking up so much time (much more than the requested 15 minutes). Repeating the number of years experience I have before every single question in an attempt to personalise doesn't help but it was mainly the questions I found a bit abstract (not related to my field of expertise) or unclear. When I asked for clarification it just went on to the next question. In 2026, there's millions of stronger alternatives.

Hit an earnings ceiling and went “under review” then off boarded. Went into Reddit and seems this is becoming common with over 50 people making the same comment.

It is a complete scam. I think all the high ratings are AI agents.

Extremely poor experience
Extremely poor experience. I was recruited and given an offer letter as a Risk & Regulatory Advisory Consultant at $80/hour, but after completing the onboarding and screener I discovered that the available work was generic AI content/PowerPoint grading rather than risk or regulatory work. Ethos subsequently confirmed to me that there is no separate specialist workstream and that all experts draw from the same shared queue. The systems have been extraordinarily chaotic: contradictory messages about whether I had passed the screener and completed onboarding, missing checklist items, problems accessing and submitting tasks, and a task queue with hundreds of experts waiting which at times would not even allow me to join because it was full. Support has acknowledged a number of these problems. I have $240 showing as due for payment, but today Ethos emailed saying I must urgently provide bank details and complete KYC because they are changing payment provider to Wise; when I attempted to do so, their portal returned an error and would not save my bank details. I cannot say whether I will ultimately be paid, but based on my experience so far I would be extremely cautious about relying on Ethos as a source of income.
