I repair laptops for a living- had a customer bring me a high-end 4 year old Dell that had a bad motherboard. With the cost of new laptops being low, I didn't think I could offer my customer an economical solution. Ascendtech to the rescue! They sold me a Dell Recertified MoBo for under $60.00; I got it 3 days later and installed it. Being in the business, I know the difference between "Used" and "Manufacturer Recertified". It was indeed a Dell Recertified board that required me to "tattoo" the new board with the System Service Tag. The customer got his laptop back working perfectly without the hassle of having to migrate his data & settings to a new computer, I made a few dollars and together we kept another piece of technology out of our landfills for a few more years! I had an Win XP system on a machine with an Asus A8N-SLI Premium board. The MB died. This is a Socket 939 board with DDR memory and no current production boards use my CPU and RAM. Even the cheapest new system would cost more than $200 for MB, CPU, & RAM and require reloading the OS and all the software (and in my case buying another copy of XP). I purchased an ASUS A8R-MVP board from Ascendtech that was listed as New, Other. It arrived quickly and was as described in their listing. I swapped all the components including three hard Drives, an IDE DVD-R drive, the Athlon X2-64 CPU, 4GB of memory, and an nVidia video card (non SLI). I set up the BIOS to boot from the correct drive, and, to my delight XP booted from the hard drive on the first try. For some reason I had to reload the video card driver, but other than that, I had a working computer with all data, software, and settings intact. I built the original machine with an OEM version of Win XP Pro. After changing the MB, I had to re-register XP. I did this online without a hitch. I couldn't have imagined a better outcome. This MB has fewer features than my old A8N-SLI Premium, but it will serve it's purpose as a backup machine on an XP platform - all for a little over $50 and two hours of time.

Ascend Technologies has unique products (in my case a new Dell OEM graphics card) that is quieter, faster and has better specs than virtually any card in its class, for less than a third of the price of even the offbrand graphics board manufacturer street prices. The card came in an anti-static bag and well packaged in bubble wrap, within a couple of business days after ordering. The card was inserted and worked first time after booting, and after loading the native drivers from Nvidia, it had a wide variety of high-end graphics and monitor options I can't say enough good things about Ascend and highly recommend them to anyone.
