your information is shared without your permission
Shares your information with apartment complexes even though you explicitly tell it not to. I never would have used this website had I known that.

We hear you, it sounds like our “SuperMatch” feature did its job a little too well! It’s designed to help renters connect quickly with apartments that are a strong fit, but we know it can sometimes feel like more contact than expected. I've shared your experience with our product team, and we'll work on addressing your feedback.

Horrible spam and privacy
Shares your information with any building you show any interest in even when you explicitly ask them NOT to. Im still getting emails 2 months later. And please don’t bother to reply that your match feature “did its job too well”, because that’s frankly an unacceptable attempt to make light of giving out my contact Information against my will. I did not opt “in” to anything, via a super match prompt or elsewhere, and based on the countless reviews saying the same, clearly the default setting is actually an opt-out model. FYI It’s now been almost 5 months and I’m still getting occasional emails from some of the buildings leasing professionals who unsubscribe you from mass emails but continue to follow up 1 on 1.

That's a fair frustration, and we're sorry for the experience. To clarify what happened: when you engage with a property on Apartment List, a "SuperMatch" prompt sometimes appears. By opting in, it does share your contact information with that property. I've shared your experience with our product team so that we can improve. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Melissa, Apartment List Customer Experience

Apartment List is not the best way to find listings.
Apartment List requires a lot of personal information up front before listings are shown. I did not find any listings that weren't also on Zillow. Deleting my account required research on how to do it, an email request, and then clicking a link from email--which is always a risk. This company feels predatory and doesn't offer anything special to the consumer.

Hi Leah! I'm sorry to hear that Apartment List didn't match expectations: we ask so many questions up front so that we can show the best possible matches, but it sounds like our matchmaking process missed the mark for you. Data privacy and security is a top concern, so we send an account deletion verification email to ensure that deletion requests are coming from your account. I'll note this experience to our product team! Wishing you the best in your apartment search: we're always working to improve, so give us a try again if you move in the future! 💜️ -Melissa, Apartment List Support

Hi! Thank you for your feedback. We’re here to help you find a home you love, and our matchmaker quiz is a part of our approach to finding your perfect match. We're always growing our inventory, and it sounds like in this case our match algorithm matched you with a place that you already live in. We aim to continually improve out product, and I will pass your feedback along to the rest of the team. Thank you! -Melissa, Customer Experience

Ignores your budget
Even though you put in you budget information they constantly send you listing that are 100s of dollars over your budget. And many of the listing are unavailable or inaccurate. It really amounted to a waste of my time.
Response from Apartment ListApr 15, 2026
Hi Wendy! At Apartment List, we sometimes “flex” budget ranges to show additional options that might still be a fit, but we understand how frustrating it is when listings feel consistently out of range or inaccurate. We also rely on property partners to keep listing details up to date, but we recognize we don’t always get it right. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we’ll be sharing it with our product team as we continue working to improve match accuracy and listing quality. If you’re open to it, we’d love to learn more about what you encountered: feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] -Melissa, Customer Experience

Literally the worst website
Literally the worst website, you can't downgrade properties on your list, you can't search for a property by name, and you cannot change your filters

Unprofessional, No help, Waste of time and $
Unprofessional, terrible "leads", no support of any kind. I've spent over a week trying to get anyone (I've emailed their entire corporate leadership as well after finding them on Linkedin) to assist in getting off this platform. Just don't do it. It's not worth the advertised low cost.
