Frustrating experience
I was just looking. They forced me to go through all the questions so they can collect my data and then wouldn't show me any listings without signing up.

Hi Sway, We ask all of our renters to complete a quiz prior to matching them with properties so that we can provide the most thoughtful recommendations possible. We know it can be a bigger lift up front, but we believe it helps take a lot of the searching and scrolling out of the process- and we only use the data to find you a good match! Signing up also allows you to send your information to properties that you want to get in contact with. Rental Scams!
After finding out I had to move out of my rental home, I used apartment.list as one of my rental resources. I found several rentals in my area. I made tour appointments but never heard back from any of the owners.Regardless I decided to at least view the area and the rental spaces from the street. All five that I viewed seemed to have long term residents who were in no stages of vacating. When I did receive and talk to one person, they told me the space had not been available for over 1 year! Upon further investigation, I found that none of the rentals were up for rent! This was very frustrating and a total waste of my time and efforts. On one occasion, I got a text requesting I look at their current rentals. When I looked at the website, I was directed to Xfinity.com! On other occasions, there was a switch and bait situation. All the rest of the tour appointments that I made indicated that the owners were notified of my interest, but none ever contacted me!

Scam Website!!! I can not believe the amount of…
I can not believe the amount of Scammers allowed to use this site! I have been contacted by so many people who have asked very personal questions, ask me to take pictures of myself before I submit an application, the fake “applications” ask for social security numbers and bank/credit card information. I was even lured to a rental and the contact asked me to look through the window! To send the money I get the keys in the mail. Are people really that stupid to fall for this??? This is a horrible website and needs to be taken down

We take fraudulent listings very seriously at Apartment List which is why we partner directly with the majority of the properties we have listed on our platform. That said, we do partner with data providers for smaller units across the country. While we perform basic data validation for these properties, we rely on those partners to verify the credibility of their listings. I had an account with them briefly and I immediately regretted it
I had an account with them briefly. Just casually browsing apartments, favoriting a few, dismissing others, normal stuff. I then started to get phone calls and emails from the listers. Multiple phone calls, multiple emails. Apartment List had sent them my personal information without me actually applying!!! I was shocked and upset. Tried to delete my account and I got an alert that said my request would be processed in 45 DAYS. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Hey, maybe you shouldn't send the listers people's personal info before they decide to apply. I might have kept the account and actually used it but not anymore.

apartmentlist feels like an info gathering site
I went through page after page filling out all of the options for what we are looking for, and when I thought I was going to get my matches it asked for all of my personal info before releasing the list of apartments. They probably feel that if you are invested you'll share your personal info.

Awful website
Awful website. They make you text or email a link to see matches. On top of that, they make you rate each property before seeing the next. Time consuming! Show me my matches. This isn’t a dating service. I don’t have time to rate anything!
