Joined Anytime Fitness in Leigh, Greater Manchester. The gym is small and cramped, and not suitable for whole body weightlifting exercises like the power clean, snatch and jerk. Only joined because it was located close to where I work and it is open 24 hours a day. Signed in for 12 months but didn't use the gym for the last 8 months of my contract because it didn't serve my needs. I informed the gym I was leaving (1 months paid notice) but during my notice period my fob key had been turned off so I couldn't access the gym even if I had wanted too. That's either theft, fraud or both. The fitness instructors hanging around the front of the gym vaping isn't a great look either. The gym isn't cheap, definitely not value for money and there are significantly better gyms in Leigh and surrounding area that are cheaper with better equipment (including pools). Signed up for 2 years plan with auto pay. Once my 2 year plan was up I notified them in writing by email and by phone I would not be renewing my membership. They ignored me and continued to make automatic payment withdrawals from my bank until I ended it ! Now they have put me in for collections altering my credit score! Way too much money for way too little gym. Planet fitness gives you way more bang for your buck! And they are not vindictive when you cancel your membership! I will never recommend them!!!!!

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! If i could leave no stars i would, they messed up something on there system so i couldnt use my fob for half of october, nov, dec and half of jan told them of this problem and nothing then told me in dec they would freeze jan payment as it still wasnt sorted and then a payment come out then taking me into a negative balance for that account.. was able to get it sorted in jan but even told them i wish to pause or cancel then after saying that they finally gave me a month of payments being frozen even though at this point i had paid 3 months without access. i have been bombarded with texts and phone calls demanding i pay for march membership even when i told them within the first 10 days of feb im leaving, i have no contract saying that i need to pay a month in advance and ive just had a phone call from someone from this gym called sapphrone or whatever being aggressive and lying saying that i used my fob every month then not being able to tell me when that was exactly as i know i never used them when my fob wasnt working because i dont like going at busy hours hence why you get a gym with 24 hour access! Im going to be looking at taking this further and looking for getting something done for all the texts and calls.. There are far better gyms with better facilitties in woolwich and the local areas avoid this dump and the rude staff

I joined Anytime Fitness about a year and a half ago, maybe a little longer. The monthly membership is pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for there. Small, smelly, mostly older roided out looking men and elderly people with limited equipment. The staff, including management, is made up of individuals who are actually quite polite although they look to be around 16-18 years old and they have no authority to actually do anything. They advertised a 6 week "boot camp" class which I thought sounded like a fun idea, so I signed up. What I wasn't told, is that it was $240 a month and it was a one-year commitment, whether you attended the classes or not, you would be charged an additional $240 monthly for an entire year on top of your regular membership just for the option to go in 3 days per week to do a one hour class with 3 elderly people and a trainer. After the 6 week class, I realized that definitely was NOT worth an extra $240, and for the last year I've been fighting with management to cancel that from my membership to no avail. They've assured me it cannot be canceled, but then told me multiple times they'll make an exception for me so I've filled out several "cancellation" forms, yet it's been about a year and I woke up this morning to yet another $240 charge to my bank account just like clockwork. This is a nightmare, I hate this gym, I hate the environment, and I think a business model that swindles members is incredibly shady and lacks any resemblance of integrity or customer service. I've been a member of many different gyms over the years and always had a great experience. Not at Anytime Fitness, I regret joining them every day, especially the day every month they charge me $240 for classes I've not attended and have been trying to cancel for a year. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM. Their business model is to scam their members.

I think the way this gym goes about its business is disgusting. They charge 40 pounds a month for a less than average Gym and keep you locked in on long contracts so you can’t leave. I am currently away for two months with work and cannot cancel my membership. I don’t know how they think we are supposed to afford paying for memberships when we aren’t even in country to use them. Disgusting!!

Tried to scam me for a 500$ "Hold" for a 6 week thing.....I waked out faster than he could get another word out , AVOID THIS PLACE !!!! THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!

Anytime fitness prey on vulnerable people. Lock them into contracts and make it extremely difficult to leave, all the while extracting their fee from your bank account, if you freeze membership they still extract their fee, until you have no funds left. They then send debt collectors. All up paying $$$$ for 4 visits to the gym which should be helping mental health, turns out it is very detrimental. Unethical behaviour. I would recommend you avoid at all costs. Surely there is a gym out there with a conscience.
