Car Delivered Perfect but Poor Communication After Paying
The most important thing was that the my new IS500 make it from NJ to Houston in perfect condition in 5 days in a huge enclosed trailer. My issues are with the lack of communication after paying the transportation fee. Great communication up until that point. The contract was for the car to be picked up from the Lexus dealership on Sat. or Mon because I had already flown back to Houston. I called AmeriFrieght on Friday before pickup to obtain the carrier's phone #'s which had not been provided initially. I called them and left a message and texted a message to the driver. Saturday passed without any contact. The driver contacted the dealership Monday morning for a Monday afternoon pickup. During the week I called both AmeriFrieght and the carrier asking for an approximate delivery day; no response. Saturday night at 8pm the driver called to say he would be delivering the car in 30 minutes. He called from a different number than the one AmeriFrieght provided me for the driver. That week I was answering every call. Luckily I was home to receive the car. If I was not at home would he have unloaded the car and left the key fob under the floor mat??? I purchased the full Comprehensive $98 AFTA gap coverage "insurance" but the link to set up the account did not work on 3 different browsers. Neither AmeriFrieght nor AFTA Plan replied to my emails requesting help to set up the account. Luckily the car was delivered perfectly so I did not need to file a claim through the account I paid for but could not set up. Finally I received a text from AmeriFreight 2 days after the car was delivered asking about the delivery and "wanted to hear back from me". So I replied with my communication issues and the AFTA Plan problems described above. No response after my reply. I was a little irritated that AmeriFrieght's quoted payment method was for the customer to pay the driver directly when the car is delivered and separately pay AmeriFrieght their coordination fee; but I did not see those conditions in their original quote or website (even when I re-read the quote details later). I did not want the possibility of the driver requesting more money or not unloading the car. I expected to make a single payment for the transportation service. For that service of paying a single up-front fee (to AmeriFrieght and to the driver); AmeriFrieght charges an extra 8.75% which is not disclosed until the very end of the contract setup/approval.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’ve reviewed the details of your shipment and can confirm that our team maintained regular communication throughout the process. That said, we completely understand how frustrating it must have been not to receive more consistent updates from the carrier during transit, and we’re sorry that part of the experience fell short. We offer both split and full-payment options to give customers flexibility in how they’d like to handle billing. Each method is explained during booking so customers can choose what works best for them. While we regret that the process didn’t align with your expectations, we do appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue to strengthen both our communication and the clarity we provide around service options. We're also looking into the AFTA Plan setup issue and your follow-up message that went unanswered. This isn’t the kind of responsiveness we strive for, and we sincerely appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
