Disappointed RV V.
Proceed with Caution - Austin Location
When we first planned our trip we were very excited and pleased with our decision to use American Dream Vacations and rent unit 2837. Four days before our trip we’re informed that the unit we reserved would not be available and we would be bumped to a smaller unit. This unit had less features and was not as nice as we were expecting. We had little time to choose to do anything other than accept our situation and move to unit 2808. Though we understand that these things do happen it was still a disappointing start. This unit was plagued with small problems that negatively impacted our experience. The self-leveling would work sometimes and other times not function at all. There were DC outlets in the cab that didn’t function. The generator would cut out every time any moderate pressure was applied to the brakes. The interior surround sound didn’t work. The room dividers constantly came off the tract. None of these are huge issues but they do not compare to not having two functioning air conditioners on a 33 ft RV. During the entire time we had the RV we had no functioning air conditioner in the rear of the unit. The temperatures in the areas we visited were in excess of 90 degrees and as high as 97 every day. With only one functioning air conditioner this made for very poor conditions inside the RV. Even with the rear section closed off and all shades pulled the interior of the RV never got below 95 degrees on some of the hotter days. The evenings offered some relief but even then, sleeping in the bed was not an option. We had to resort to using the hall bunk or the overhead every night of our trip. While I can say that driving between our destinations was quite the experience, it was not what we were looking for once we arrived at our destinations. For two weeks I emailed and called asking for compensation in the form of reimbursing a portion of our trip. The manager never got back to me. I finally received a gift certificate in the mail. Horrible customer service. The certificate is for one day rental (value up to $500). Keep in mind that I spent nearly $3000.00 on my RV rental in the first place. The catch is that in order to use the certificate you have to rent for more than one day, they don't offer one day rentals. Next you aren't covered for all of the additional charges that get added when you rent their RVs. So in order to get all $500 I have to rent a diesel pusher at a 3-day minimum. Meaning I have to spend over $1,000.00 to get that $500.00 out of my certificate. I caution anyone who is considering ADV for a rental.
