I booked a move from Georgia to New York and I had a 2 bedroom moved for a good price, I did a shared Load to save so it took 7 days to deliver my furniture. They offered me a free storage if necessary for my new place but I didn’t need it. Service was great, we only had to speak twice as I am very busy but I got my delivery at the time expected. I’d book again.

I hired American National Movers for an interstate move from New York to San Diego under a signed, binding flat-rate contract for $10,000, which explicitly stated I was paying for a dedicated, direct truck and that "shared load moving does NOT apply." This turned out not to be true. The driver told me directly, more than once, that he had made unscheduled stops elsewhere in San Diego before reaching me. I feel I was misled into paying a premium for a direct, dedicated service I never actually received. After the move was already underway, the company also invoiced me an additional $1,500 "fuel surcharge" which did not appear in my signed contract. My delivery was promised in writing no later than September 3rd with 48 hours' notice. That date came and went with no communication. A revised delivery window was also missed the following day, with the truck arriving after 10pm and disturbing my neighbors. At final delivery, the driver arrived alone and had to source two people on the spot, reportedly from Craigslist, to unload my belongings; one appeared to be under the influence. My furniture arrived unwrapped and scratched, despite the contract promising standard padding and protection, and several items, including live plants, were damaged from being packed together carelessly. When I raised the damage with a manager, he denied any responsibility. I would not recommend this company for an interstate move. I paid for a direct, dedicated service and did not receive one.

American National Movers strongly disputes the allegations made in this review and would like to clarify the facts surrounding this relocation. The customer contracted with our company for a dedicated interstate move from Manhattan, New York, to San Diego, California, at a binding transportation rate of $10,000. The applicable fuel charge was disclosed in the Bill of Lading. Upon arrival, the customer requested full packing services (white glove service) that were not included in the original binding estimate. These services were performed at the customer’s request and billed accordingly. A binding estimate does not prevent additional charges when a customer requests services outside the original contractual scope. The shipment was transported across the country and delivered within seven to eight days. We also dispute the allegation that the customer was informed of additional delivery stops, as this is inconsistent with our understanding of the services provided. Following completion of the move, the customer disputed all the charges through his credit card company, despite the transportation and additional packing services having been rendered. Our company subsequently issued a formal demand letter regarding the outstanding disputed funds. In an effort to resolve this matter amicably, we contacted the customer and even offered to refund the additional packing charges as a goodwill gesture, despite maintaining that those charges were justified. Unfortunately, our attempts to reach a reasonable resolution were unsuccessful. It is important to emphasize that interstate relocations involve substantial operational expenses, including transportation, labor, fuel, and logistics. Our company fulfilled a cross-country relocation, and we firmly maintain that payment for services properly rendered is warranted. We believe the timing of this review, following our formal demand for payment, is relevant to the circumstances of this dispute. While we respect every customer’s right to share their experience, we also have the right to correct statements we believe misrepresent the transaction. American National Movers remains committed to professionalism, transparency, and honoring its contractual obligations. We intend to pursue resolution of the outstanding financial dispute through the appropriate legal channels.

22 calls. 4 texts. 0 response. I felt more like a stalker than a customer that paid $11k to move my entire life across the country. TLDR: • Contract terms called for a $3,000 downpayment, balance due on delivery. Movers required 50% of balance due before loading. Cash. • Contract terms called for one of two specific delivery dates. Movers preferred faster (most would be happy with), which couldn't work for us. They did not start loading the truck as they tried to get a hold of the company. After an hour, they agreed. Calls & texts to the company went unanswered until the last call. • Contract did not state payment would be made to a third party. We had to pay the moving crew (individual names), not to American National Movers. As such, I cannot submit to my company for reimbursement. • Agent told me they'd have a credit card terminal for final payment. It wasn't in the contract, but that wouldn't have mattered. • Movers were professional, careful, courteous, and knew what they were doing. They were tipped appropriately. HOW IT STARTED: charming banter and clear, prompt communication from C***s during the contract phase, along with explanations that addressed the poor reviews I read on the BBB website. I signed the contract and paid the deposit via credit card. C***s promised he'd have the movers bring a credit card reader - I needed to charge the move in order for it to be covered by my company. That was verbal, not in the contract. (SPOILER ALERT - contract terms are meaningless to this company). MOVING DAY: Movers arrive on time. They were not in a branded moving truck. Instead, it was two guys with a rented Penske truck. That didn't bother me initially, but I can see how it would others. I comment how we'd see them on July 24. They stopped dead in their tracks "we'd like to deliver in 3 days; the contract is first available." No, I explained, the contract states to deliver on July 24 or 25. They didn't start loading the truck. 22 CALLS AND 4 TEXTS LATER: The mover, who also could not reach C***s, decided he'd honor the contract. I understand his frustration. He could have picked up another job in between. I wasn't flexible, I wanted what I contracted for. When C***s finally did pick up, he had an attitude - that he had "handled it." SURPRISE: The mover wanted 50% of the balance due, in cash, to proceed (ironically, one of the BBB complaints I addressed with C***s). I didn't have $4k cash. The contract said the balance is due upon delivery. Loading stops again. I call, again, but this time a woman answers. She explained they need that money for gas and lodging, and that somebody should have told me that. Understandable, but not what I contracted for, and nobody told me that. She's looking into it and will get back to be ASAP. (That's sarcasm. I never heard back.) Mover agrees to Zelle. I'm not comfortable pre-paying 64% of the total to two guys in a Penske truck, but I have no choice. THE END: The movers showed up on time. Our belongings were intact. Of course, I had to pay the remaining $4k via Zelle before they would unload the truck. I can't submit for reimbursement because I paid two random entities with nonsensical names than the moving company. The names didn't imply a moving company. He was unable to provide receipts. SO, I'm out $8k. None of what I've written is subjective, and it cannot be argued. I'm sure C***s will reply that the outcome, a move that got my belongings cross-country unscathed, is what matters. He's not wrong, ultimately that's what matters. The other parts were simply reflective of a poorly run organization. p.s. Many review services allow a company to filter reviews to only show 4 stars or higher.

Hi Brandy, We read your review carefully, and I’m sorry you feel the way you do and chose to leave us a one-star review. However, to be frank, when you told me that our website and business needed help and that we should hire you, I’m not surprised by this review. To address your concern regarding the branded truck, during the summer we may or may not service a load using a rented truck through companies we have yearly contracts with. This may occur because we are overbooked or because one of our company trucks is undergoing maintenance. Nowhere in your contract does it state that American National Movers is obligated to accept credit card payments at pickup or delivery, especially when you were expecting your shipment to be delivered across the country within three days. As you may already know, credit card transactions can take several days to process. Also, to be frank, you indicating regret because you were unable to possibly process a refund, despite there being no damage, no price increase, no delay, and your shipment arriving within the contracted delivery window, is another major reason many moving companies choose to refuse credit card payments. In this situation, I cannot say that I blame the movers for requiring a payment method that cleared immediately. Therefore, I’m not sure how you can say that our contract terms are meaningless or that we do not honor our contracts. When you called me, I addressed and handled your concerns. I also see that in your review you acknowledged there were no mishaps regarding your actual move, other than your preferred payment method. You also mentioned that communication was lacking. I disagree because I personally spoke with you while the movers were at your pickup location and addressed the delivery-date concern. While we strive to provide every customer with a positive experience, we are not afraid to let a consumer know when we believe they are wrong. In this case, this negative review seems very unfair. You were quoted $11,000 to move your belongings across the country with delivery in approximately three to four days, when many companies charge more for a standard delivery window of 14 to 21 days. In the end, we appreciate your feedback and are glad that your belongings arrived safely, on time, without damage, and without any increase to the agreed price.

I see I'm having the same issues as some others on this board. Spotty communication and a missed final delivery date. Granted I had to move the initial date because I did not close on my house in time. But that rescheduled date has also now passed with spotty communication from them until today. So now I have new tentative dates. First, the movers who packed everything were highly capable, efficient and packed items with care. Oddly, they asked for payment via Venmo or Zelle. Highly unorthodox. I get it, everyone hates the fees credit card companies charge, but it did make me uncomfortable as a last-minute request. Glad I had left a tracking tag in a box because it seems that the storage unit they used to hold my stuff til I could gain access to my new house didn't offer climate-controlled storage, which was part of our contract. Moving my delivery date resulted in an upcharge, which was fair because of shifting schedules and an end-of-the-month rush. But they also wanted to charge $500 more for storage. Odd because But the storage company offers a free month to go along with the first month that you pay for. And my storage time amounted to less than two months, so there should be no upcharge. They did back down from some of those extra charges, thankfully. .All of this is incredibly frustrating. I get that things are fluid — weather, especially, and the fact that I had to move my delivery date by 10 days. But this is making me highly concerned about my items. I also fear that there will be more last-minute charges, though today I was told that would not be the case. Today three different people from the company have been in touch trying to fix this. Happy to update when all goes well in this last rush to get things here. Things happen. I'm just hoping we all are happy with the final results. Update: Didn't hear from AN by 8 pm last night, which is when they said they'd have my delivery date nailed down. Nothing this morning yet because they don't start work til 9 am and apparently after-hours communication isn't a thing. Messaged actual contractors at 9 am today, who started this move for me. They also have no definitive timeline and "will call me in a few hours." Looks like they are waiting on the weather forecast. At least that's what I think, because I actually have no idea if they're even in the area.

7/3 Update: Here's how they've tried to "resolve" this. On July 1, a company representative offered me a $500 credit "as a resolution." The condition was in the same message: "In return, we ask that you remove the reviews." I declined. I told them I won't take down a truthful review, and that if $500 was a genuine gesture for a genuinely bad experience, they should process it regardless of what I do with my review. Their reply told me everything. Instead of honoring it, they argued that a one-star review isn't fair "based solely on a delivery delay." It isn't based solely on a delivery delay, and I never claimed my price went up. As of this update, with my reviews still up, the $500 has not been processed. Draw your own conclusion about whether it was ever "genuine" or just the price of my silence. I still don't have my belongings, and I'll update this the day they actually arrive. 7/1 Update: The company replied to my review, so let me answer it, because most of it is deflection. They hide behind "shared load." Their own signed contract says shared-load delivery averages "5 to 12 days." I'm at four weeks. That's more than double their own number, not a rounding error. They cite a "21 business day window." That number is nowhere in the contract I signed, which says 5 to 12 days and an 8 to 15 day ETA. It appears to have been invented after the fact. And their reply contradicts itself: in one paragraph the 21-day window supposedly "has not passed," and in another they say delivery "should take place within approximately 7 business days." Pick one. They say there was nothing deceptive about the pricing. I never said there was. My complaint is the Venmo payment to a stranger, which they don't address, and my project manager (I think the owner who uses a fake name in his emails) denying a delivery date he put in writing. They say they don't actually service shared-load moves and it's the carrier's responsibility. I contracted with American National Movers. I paid American National Movers. Their name is on my signed estimate. You don't get to take someone's money and then wash your hands of delivering their belongings, especially when the handoff to another company was never disclosed when I booked. They say staff are available to answer and return calls. I have called, texted, and emailed the office, the project manager, and the carrier over and over. Their own office told me they couldn't reach the carrier either. 6/30: TLDR: Three missed delivery dates, half my money collected over Venmo to a stranger, and total silence. Still don't have my stuff. Hired American National Movers for a partial-load move from Florida to San Diego, around $3,600. Pickup on June 2 went fine, which makes sense, because that's the part where they collect your money. After that it fell apart. I was told my first available delivery date was June 15, a date my project manager put in writing himself. Then it became a June 21-23 window. Both came and went with no delivery and no warning. Then I was told June 29. That passed too. Three promised dates, zero deliveries. Once they had my deposit and half the balance, communication died. Calls, texts, and emails to the office, the project manager, and the carrier all went unanswered. Complete radio silence while a stranger holds everything I own. A few things that should have been red flags: half the payment was collected by Venmo to a random personal account, which no legitimate company does. And when I asked about the June 15 date the project manager set in writing, he acted like he never said it. I have no belongings and, for stretches, no way to reach a single human being. Do not use this company.

Tyler, We are sorry to hear about your frustration and understand that delivery delays can be stressful. We do want to clarify a few important details regarding your shipment. Your move was booked as a shared-load, also known as a piggyback-load service, which is the more budget-friendly option compared to a dedicated truck. As we explain to our customers prior to booking, and as stated on our website, shared-load shipments can have longer delivery timelines, especially during the busy summer season. Because these shipments are consolidated with other loads, delivery dates are estimated and cannot be guaranteed the same way a dedicated route can be. For smaller long-distance shared shipments, the carrier’s delivery window allows up to 21 business days from the first available delivery date. Based on our review, that timeframe has not yet passed. If the carrier exceeds that delivery window, then applicable discounts or adjustments may be reviewed according to the carrier’s policy. We have also reviewed your file and do not see anything deceptive regarding the pricing of your move. The quote provided was below standard industry pricing, and it was still honored. There was also no pickup-day price increase, which is often where pricing issues occur in the moving industry. The current delay appears to be related to shared-load logistics and routing, not a refusal to deliver your items. We also want to clarify that American National Movers does not directly service shared-load shipments. Shared-load moves are handled by the assigned carrier agent. In your case, the shipment is being handled by Ageis, and they are responsible for the transportation and final delivery of your belongings. That being said, we have still been actively trying to assist you with updates and communication. Our calls are recorded and monitored, and we have staff available to answer calls, return calls, and send text updates as information becomes available. Additionally, Chris, one of our managers, will be reaching out to you directly to further discuss your concerns and help work toward a resolution. At this time, based on the information provided, delivery should take place within approximately 7 business days. We will also be addressing the delay with the carrier directly. While we do not believe the review fully reflects the shared-load terms or the efforts being made to assist you, we do take your concerns seriously and will continue working to help resolve the matter. Thank you
