I've had Ambetter for 2yrs. The first year was good, no problems. The second yr my rates went up and started having issues with approvals.I have been taking the same meds for the last couple of years and no problem with approval. The end of this year when I tried to get a refill, all of a sudden I need it preauthorized! My doctor sent the preauthorization and still got denied. Not to mention the reward program. I used my reward points for a prepaid visa card. I ordered it October 15th and just received it. I had to call so many times just for them to reissue another card because the other one never arrived. Then when I activated the card and tried to use it, it declined at 3 different retailers SMH. I called to find out why and got a representative whose language was very broken and couldn't tell me why. He transferred me to the activation department and she said that they only activate cards and the previous rep should have been able to assist me. She also informed me that their prepaid visa Cannot be used everywhere!!! So basically, my rewards points are wasted. But they'll let you use it to pay your premium with them. I will not be renewing with them again, plus their premiums went way up!!

I live in a medium sized city but Ambetter has horrible coverage. Basically only one community clinic accepts their health insurance. Their website sucks and customer support gives out wrong information like saying a Kaiser Permanente hospital accepts their insurance. Ambetter also suddenly drops providers from their network without any notification to us leaving us with a $786 dollar bill we have to pay out of pocket. The only thing thats good is the rewards program but if you decide to buy items from the store instead of getting the prepaid card, everything is inflated 2 times so your points are essentially only worth half as much. Plus my plan was canceled on 12/30 even though it says its valid to 12/31 so I have leftover points i cant spend. All in all, I had a terrible experience with Ambetter and would reccomend people to look at other options.

They start with a low rate and then increase it 30% the first year then 800%. They are not affordable at all! I also earned a rewards card and they would not honor it. Shame on them.

Paid claims on time. Very poor customer service. When you call, you are directed to a third world call center, not an Ambetter employee. They don’t speak fluent English nor do they understand fluent English. After a lengthy time and being put on hold multiple times, they eventually disconnect you and you must call back and start the process all over again….. They put the CUSS!! In customer service.

This company should be out of business. It took them 3 months for them to give my wife credential. The worst and unprofessional customer service.

Took payment but was not applied to account. Called customer service ( could not understand any representative as they speak broken English) they took another payment and then had a credit on balance. Went to use it and was denied. Spent 3.5 hours trying to get to the bottom of this only to be told to call back in a week. Is all they can do is put a ticket in. Asked to talk to supervisor, was told they were one. Asked to talk to their superior then told there was non!! So can not fill my prescription because I now have no insurance and with out insurance it costs $1600. And this prescription is vital for my health.

RUN don't walk to the nearest exit when someone tells you to choose AmBetter!!! My mom had this insurance for years and she was always healthy so no experiences till… she came to my house and had a stroke (and i am a nurse). First signs of stroke i called an ambulance and she went to the nearest hospital to me as it is a stroke (medical emergency). We provided the hospital with her insurance card and number. First they told the hospital they had no one with that member id but when i would call they would always find my mom. Then she started receiving calls from collectors guess AmBetter decided they would deny every single claim stating that the hospital did not send correct forms and when that didn't work they started saying she went out of network… WHAT!!! She had a stroke and they expected me to drive her to Chicago? This only escalated every day because i was constantly transferred to different people in different states with no resolution. I filed a complaint with BBB and low and behold an actual manager from AmBetter called me and stated he would look into this and get the bills paid…. Hmmm… too good to be true and it was! He never sent it for review and he just hit denied on the claims out of network. My mom is low income so she could not afford a 23 thousand dollar bill along with a 600 dollar ambulance ride. I paid for her ambulance because AmBetter never did and after a year of going back and forth AmBetter NEVER paid the bills. Thankfully my mom was provided with forgiveness as even the hospital knew this was an emergency. If you want bill collectors calling you and never getting your bills paid for choose this company but i would RUN!!!

Anyone know if NC has filed a class-action lawsuit against Ambetter? They have denied every claim we sent, even though I kept sending them money. Why in Hell do they get away with it? We now have a $90,000 medical bill! When we called customer service, the representatives spoke with a strong Indian accent. Communication was difficult which made our situation extremely hard to explain. The representatives could never tell us what was going on. They always gave us different solutions or transferred us to someone in their sales department or Healthcare.gov. We are on a carousel and can't get off! I am very dissapointed with Ambetter! In my opinion, they are a deceptive, corrupt company who exists only to defraud customers. Now, back to my original question; does anyone know of a lawsuit against Centene,the parent company of Ambetter, or Ambetter of NC? ----------------------------------- The American Healthcare plan is broken! We need more help from our elected officials to keep these companies in check!
