And to add, I just tried ONCE AGAIN to deal with whatever Ambetter calls "customer service"...I spoke with a young lady who DID NOT HAVE A FUCTIONING TELEPHONE...I was then transferred to someone who JUSTIFIED THE FIRST REP NOT HAVING A WORKING PHONE..."Things don't last forever and they wear out" was her response...hum...A phone customer service person with no working phone...Sounds like Ambetter to me!!!!!

Beware!
Although Ambetter covers the cost of a routine screening colonoscopy it DOES NOT cover the removal of any polyps and I have been billed $3000 for this. What a SCAM for an insurance company. They should be ashamed of themselves.

TERRIBLE and I haven’t even used the…
TERRIBLE and I haven’t even used the plan yet! I signed up for a plan on the health insurance marketplace and I have been doing this for years- never had a major issues. Well, they advertise generic drug costs as $3. Looking into it, it’s just “tier 2” and I made sure my prescriptions were tier 2. Well turns out there’s a “preferred tier 2 generic” and a “retail tier 2 generic”- which cost more. It’s all incredibly misleading and it’s ambetters fault- they choose how to display the info on the marketplace. Looking it up there’s a total of less than 5 drugs that would cost you the $3. Again I have never had this issue with any other insurance company. Getting out of this plan as soon as I can

The Filipino customer service does not speak Medical English
HORRIBLE customer service reps, who do not speak English competently!
When they don’t know an answer to a question, which is often, they pretend to drop the call. They don’t even know what a deductible is. You will get absolutely no answers whatsoever from customer service and no help from them.
When you ask to be transferred to an onshore operator, which is your right, they will then try to pass you off to one of their own Filipino supervisors (thinking you will not know the difference). They are loathe to transfer you to a native American speaking representative. My guess is that they have quotas, and they don’t meet them because their English skills are so bad, Sure, they can speak conversational English-but MEDICAL ENGLISH? Nope.
Their website is garbage. If you are looking for a provider and type in, for example, “women’s doctor”, you will find absolutely no results. If you type in “gynecologist”, you will find absolutely no results if you type in “Pap smear”, you will find absolutely no results. Then when you call to ask for a provider and state that you request a female gynecologist, you will find out when you are up in the stirrups at the doctors office that they have assigned you a male gynecologist.
They have no idea whatsoever who can process biological materials removed from surgeries. so you will pay for out of network doctors to process your own biological materials. You will also pay for MRIs, x-rays and CT scans out-of-pocket, because they can not competently process pre-authorization for those services ordered by your doctor. On the other hand, I guess you could wait about a year for them to process a life or death pre-authorization for a test, test but by then you’d be dead so it wouldn’t really matter.
They apply nothing to your deductible, even qualified expenses. For example, you can go in for a blood test and they will apply it one time to your deductible and not the next - for the same exact blood test.
And forget about medical records, they will disappear without warning.
AVOID THIS COMPANY, LIKE THE PLAGUE.

This insurance is a JOKE
This insurance is a JOKE! First of all, the doctors and hospitals listed as "in-network" are not current and very hard to find a doctor that actually accepts their insurance. Second, I had to have an MRI done and my doctor sent in my prior authorization on January 8 and finally on February 1st I was told that the claim was denied on January 10th!!! I have been calling Ambetter of Alabama almost everyday since she sent the orders to see if approved so I could get the MRI scheduled and every time I called the person answering the call spoke a foreign language and only wanted to confirm my personal information and kept telling me it takes 15 days for them to authorize anything, Here it is February 1st and the person I talked to today finally tells me it has been denied since JANUARY 10th but they had the wrong member ID number and that they requested I have an Xray which would also need to have prior authorization!!!! I had also been emailing them on their website and I got a quick response back stating a customer representative would get back with me within 1 business day, well I guess they must only work 1 day out of the month because I have sent 2 emails since then and still never received a response from an actual person. The only reason I got insurance was because my husband is self-employed and we had been paying cash every time we went to the doctor, which is no problem, but we wanted to have insurance in case of an emergency but at this rate we would die before our insurance approved our claims, I would rather pay cash than deal with these people! I cancelled my insurance effective immediately and I dare them to send me a bill!!! Do yourself a favor and save yourself a lot of time DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE!

Awful health insurance
I'm supposed to be constructive, but in this case the most constructive advice I can give is to potential clients: stay away.
Ambetter has rejected every claim I've ever made, each time for a different reason. This means a surprise thousand-dollar bill for a routine office visit!
There are two fundamental problems with this insurance: the first is that whoever manages their data and website is awful. The data they have on their website regarding providers, where they work and whether they are in-network is so outdated and inaccurate that it's essentially useless. The second issue is their customer support. Some reps are sell-intentioned enough, though even they can be deceptive, while others have absolutely no clue what's going on and transparently lie or make up answers to your questions. It's a joke. On top of that, communication is difficult through the language barrier, which gets exhausting after ten or more calls.
After having so many claims denied, I'm scared to go to the doctor now. I won't do it until I get new insurance. I can't cancel since open enrollment has passed, so I'll just keep it in case of emergencies and to pay for my monthly medications.
STAY AWAY.

Horrible Customer Service
Horrible customer service, cannot provide me an explanation for why I needed to verify my account and made me jump through hoops just to get that done and now they are claiming my plan lapsed even though they didn't let me know about it because they wouldn't let me log in because I had to verify and I will most likely have to go through the effort of contacting their unhelpful customer service again and run a marathon before they reinstate me for something that isn't my fault!! Do not use, do not recommend.

Wish I had a Negative Stars button
I’m paying nearly $1900 per month for my wife’s and my high deductible plan. No coverage for meds, and as far as I can tell, no negotiation on the drug prices. But it’s their customer service and administration that is truly dreadful. In 40 years of dealing with health insurance providers, they are the worst by orders of magnitude. You will not speak to anyone without a heavy south Asian accent, who will not understand your question and provide no useful information. They also don’t seem to have people in administration connected to the online portal. All in all, it’s an expensive, essentially worthless, and incompetent company. I never thought I’d be looking forward to turning 65 this year, but hopefully Medicare gives me relief from this crap.
