They told me to call back on July 1st to cancel my policy when I went on Medicare and then charged me for coverage on 7/1 even though I had Medicare coverage. They are just a bunch of crooks!

I enrolled for September 1, 2026. It is now the 8th and I have yet to find a PCP that accepts this insurance. I get that this is Marketplace and is a cheaper form of insurance, but I am paying over $1,200/month and I cannot find ANY doctors within a 25 mile radius that accepts this insurance. Their website is inaccurate. When I contact customer service for an updated list, I am left on hold for over 15 minutes all for them to "cut and paste" the list. You have my email and phone number. I do not need to wait on hold for a list I should be able to access online. Ambetter must do better. It is truly a shame they are graced with receiving 1 star. Update: I still have not received the email with the updated PCP list and it's been over 6 hours.

I'm disabled and in the hospital, just paid 2 months of my insurance premiums and just now found out that they canceled my policy and now I'm getting kicked out of the hospital because they, Ambetter, will not cover me. They took my money that I cannot afford to lose and now I'm going to be out on the street because of them. They are nothing but crooks. I wish that there was something that I could do to stop this from happening to someone else. Anyone have any ideas?

In 2025 I signed up for health care from Ambetter for the months April thru August as I was going on Medicare on Sept 1, 2025. I missed a payment in July (my debit card had been hacked and it had to be investigated to issue me a new card #) for the month of August, in August I made up the payment. In late 2025 I received refunds from Ambetter of my premium payments. I did not understand but didn't think anything of it as I was now on Medicare. In June 2026 I received a bill from my Primary Care doctor for three visits I had made in June, July and August 2025. When looking into this I found that Ambetter had canceled my membership, due to the 1 missed payment, all the way back to the beginning (April 2025) so in June, July, August I had no health coverage. In July 2026 I contacted Ambetter. I sent them proof that I had made all the necessary payments and was told that they can re-instate me to September 2025. In mid-August 2026 I received another bill from my PCP. I contacted Ambetter again and was told that I needed to repay my premiums that had been refunded ($239.21) by August 8 and it was now August 24. I had never received communication that I was supposed to pay this by August 8 and they have never given me proof that they had told me this. I was told I could make the payment and see what happens. Well my reinstatement was denied because I had not made the payment by August 8. AGAIN I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO PAY BY AUGUST 8. I have filed a grievance with them over this affair. If that fails I will have to pay almost $500 to my PCP through no fault of my own.

Nothing this insurance company tells you is true! Every-time I call I get a different response and no problems solved. They would rather you suffer than pay anything. Get a different insurance company. Save yourself the troubles, run!

Apparently, Ambetter changed my PCP without my knowledge. They changed it to a provider that I have never seen and that stopped practicing in our area well over a year ago. I discovered the change when I attempted to schedule an appointment with my doctor, who I saw and was in-network earlier this year. I attempted to change it back, online, but was unsuccessful. I contacted Ambetter and spoke with a representative that I had extreme difficulty understanding. After much frustration navigating the language barrier, I asked to speak with someone else. Despite making my request several times, the representative would not transfer me to anyone else. If I understood this individual correctly, he indicated that he successfully changed my PCP back to the one that I had selected over a year ago and that this PCP was in-network. He further indicated that it would take up to ten days for the update to be reflected in my profile. So now I must wait for this update, and hope that it actually happens, before attempting to schedule the appointment that I need with my doctor. Given the amount that I pay in monthly premiums and the fact that I use my insurance for very little beyond preventative care, I am more than a little frustrated and plan to explore other alternatives when open enrollment next opens.

I AM BEGGING YOU - READ THE REVIEWS!!! I have made the mistake of joining them - what a terrible choice. They denied each and every request from my doctor. medicine, tests, you name it - they rejected it. My doctor says he has been around for 20 years and never seen such a horrific health insurance company. amWORSThealth should be their name. Avoid at all cost.

My husband heart surgery in 2025; over a year and a half later, AmBetter is going back and stopping payment on claims they'd previously covered. AmBetter needs to change their name to AmWorse. Save yourself a ton of grief and thousands of dollars when they go back on their word!
