Good and bad
My daughter got a recommendation through a teacher and we all were excited with the fact this was something she could do cause she wasn't"always having her head on right" over the previous school years and for her to get this I myself was elated!! But my poor kid went to take the "pre exam" and it would of costed my husband and i a large sum of money to get her into something like this and it was devastating! My husband and i don't have that kind of money and plus she wouldn't been able to actually get into the college cause it wasn't giving her the authority(yet) to automatically tell her"hey this is the college she can get into and your accepted" so yes i am not sure if this is a good thing considering the excitement that is filled in the kids eyes at the moment of opening the letter, but the devastating loss of them not being able to go to a good or "decent" college this child (of mine) is not what i want to witness so no this isnt a good thing and i personally think this should be thought of for parents like me,low fixed income people with this aspect and looked at more closely..it would be much nicer and affordable if something could change, like payments**affordable** for us or something else...like grants to help kids go to experience things like this that would be much nicer.

Hello Melanie- Thanks for sharing your concerns. We always want to ensure that no matter if a family decides to enroll on a summit or not, the fact that their child is recommended by their teacher is a great accomplishment in of itself. You and your daughter should feel proud of that recognition. We have families of all different financial backgrounds attend our programs and we know its a big investment for most families. We want to be sure you know that we provide need- and merit-based scholarships for students to apply for once enrolled. We also have a robust fundraising blog where we provide new ideas each week to help families raise some or all of their tuition. Most of the fundraising ideas have come from students who have participated in the past and were successful in their efforts. We would love to work with you and share some of these resources if you're interested. Please reach out to us at [email protected]. Best wishes to you and your daughter.
