I joined Amazon through the Amazing…
I joined Amazon through the Amazing Selling Machine (ASM) course, and at the time it truly changed my life. When I joined, there were around 30 people in the course, and many of us were doing very well and making good, profitable money. Slowly, year by year, it became harder and harder to survive on Amazon, and today I am the only one still selling. That alone shows how much the Amazon landscape has changed. I launched several products and made a profit back in 2015. I am still selling on Amazon today, but honestly, it now feels like a constant struggle just to stay afloat. Selling profitably has become extremely difficult, stressful, and mentally draining. Over the past four years, I have launched 10 new products. Every single one of them resulted in a loss, except for two products. Even those two did not make a profit—I only managed to get my money back. I followed the ASM method step by step, exactly as I did before when it worked. I truly believe I did everything correctly, but the environment today is completely different and far more difficult. The biggest issue is visibility. Around 90% of customers buy from page 1, and reaching page 1 now requires a huge financial commitment. Advertising feels unavoidable—Amazon ads, Facebook ads, TikTok ads—but the costs are overwhelming. On top of that, giving away free products and spending hundreds of dollars just to gain traction feels unsustainable. Pricing has also become a major problem. If a product is priced below $20, too many selling. If it is priced around $30, the less selling - so good, but the advertising costs, returns, and fees increase so much that the losses are even bigger. Realistically, launching a product now requires at least $6,000 or more, and even then, there is no guarantee of success. Because of these challenges, I have stopped adding new products. I am simply trying to slowly sell through the stock I already have. Unfortunately, many other sellers are now offering the same products at lower prices, making it extremely difficult to compete. Any small profit I do manage to make is often completely wiped out by customer returns, which are increasing more and more. After returns, fees, and advertising, there is almost nothing left. Small test orders of 100 or 200 units no longer work. By the time a product reaches page 1, 2, or even 3—after spending heavily on ads—I am already losing money. When sales finally start to improve, the stock runs out, restocking takes weeks, and then the same painful cycle starts again. The only alternative seems to be ordering over 1,000 units at once, but that is an enormous risk. Many times, my stock has ended up stuck in Amazon warehouses, tying up capital and adding even more pressure. I have genuinely tried my best and followed the ASM strategies, so I don’t know if this is my own failure or simply the reality of Amazon today. It honestly feels like Amazon has become a bubble that is no longer sustainable for small sellers. I am writing this because I still believe in what ASM taught me, but I feel stuck and exhausted. Any honest guidance, updated strategies, or support from Amazing Selling Machine would mean a great deal to me.

Hi Mohsin, Thank you for taking the time to write such an honest and thoughtful review. I want you to know I read every word of it, and I completely understand where you’re coming from. What you’re describing is real, and you’re not alone in feeling it. The Amazon landscape today is dramatically different from what it was in 2015. Visibility is harder, advertising costs are higher, competition is more intense, and the financial and mental pressure on sellers - especially experienced ones who know what “good” used to look like - is very real. You’re right to say that selling profitably on Amazon alone has become far more difficult and risky. Because of these changes, Amazing Selling Machine has evolved as well. While the foundational principles still matter, selling on Amazon by itself is no longer a strong long-term strategy. Today, success requires being omnichannel, owning the customer relationship, building real brand assets, and driving sales to your own store - while still using Amazon strategically to capture demand from customers who prefer to shop there. More recently, we’ve taken this evolution even further by introducing our AI Operator approach. The goal is to help sellers manage the growing complexity of the business - product research, competitive analysis, advertising, pricing pressure, inventory decisions, and content creation - without burning out. AI isn’t a shortcut, but when used correctly, it can dramatically improve decision-making, reduce wasted spend, and give sellers clarity in an environment that has become overwhelming. This is also why our ASM members receive lifetime access to updated training. We don’t believe in static strategies for a market that keeps changing, and we’re continually adapting our guidance to reflect the reality sellers are facing today - not the Amazon of the past. I truly appreciate you sharing your experience so openly. If for some reason you need help accessing the most up to do version of ASM, just reach out to our support and they will make sure you know how to find it. Thanks again - your feedback matters, and it helps ensure we stay grounded in what sellers are actually experiencing. Best, Mike McClary
