The upfront sales experience was great, but...
The upfront sales experience was great. The sales rep answered my many questions over a period of a couple weeks, sometimes having to forward them to the tech support side. Once I was confident I had the right components, it was well packed on two pallets and arrived in short time. By 10/09/26 I had the furnace installed, which included quite a bit of duct rework and a complete rerouting of the gas and electric lines. I'm impressed so far with the two stage gas furnace. Next I began the install of the A/C compressor. I opened the control box only to find the filter/dryer was missing the cap on one end. I called tech support to verify that it was unusable and he agreed to send a new one. But they had no stock and it had to come from the factory with a delivery estimate of 7-10 days. I thought about just ordering one online, but the warranty states that any repair parts must be OEM. On 10/20/26, I went online to check on the filter/dryer order and it showed the unit might get to Alpine by 10/23/26 but then might take until 11/16/26 to get to my house! I am startled that such a simple, standard part can take a month to get! I explained the situation to their chatbot and was told to call tech support. The tech support guy just said there's nothing he could do. Not a single "I'm sorry", not an offer to expedite shipping, not an alternate part - nothing. So I said "if I get my own replacement part, will you still honor the warranty?" and he assured me he would. So I've spent another $51 to get a Sporlan filter/dryer that will be here 10/21/26 and I can finish the install and have it inspected. During the search for a replacement filter/dryer, I found that the Sanhua unit that came in the original shipment is a discontinued model. Perhaps this has contributed to the delays but that's not my problem. If this is typical customer service from Alpine, it looks like I've made a huge mistake. Update - the Tech Supt Mgr called me directly to explain the delays and apologize for the way it was communicated to me. He also immediately reimbursed me for the part I purchased and the time I spent on it noted that this case will be added to the training material for the tech support folks. That was the ideal response given the circumstances. I wish it hadn't come to this but I have to give them credit for a great cleanup effort. I'll ding them one star only because of this incident. But I'll also add that my 10 or so other interactions with them get 5 stars.
Response from Alpine Home Air ProductsOct 21, 2026
You deserved an explanation of the delay and practical options to help you finish your installation. We fell short, and we’re sorry. The manufacturer’s inventory process has caused an unusual delay that does not reflect normal parts availability. The response you received also fell below the level of care and assistance you should expect from us. We should have explained the situation and offered ways to help. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’ll use your experience as a coaching opportunity, and our Technical Support Leadership Team will reach out directly to discuss a resolution. – Alpine Home Air Products
