Unprofessional and Scammy - Lying by omission, disrespecting and gaslighting of customers.
First, UPMA made a huge rule change with ZERO NOTICE which is very unprofessional and scammy. On September 2, 2026 my wife went to make a withdrawal request for metals to fiat, close to the 10K monthly withdrawal limit. The very next morning on September 3, 2026 I log in to my UPMA account to make my withdrawal request for September and this pop-up box appears saying now we can only make such withdrawals up to $2.5K a week. I was planning on getting my 10K portion out for the month of September before I left on vacation and before I needed it on a certain date in September. This sudden major rule change, without any notice, was-and-is stressful, to say the least. Now I'm on my vacation still dealing with the sudden rule change, wasting my time on our trip making phone calls and sending text messages trying to get this all sorted out. My Complaint (ZERO NOTICE on Big Rule Change): Since 2014, hearing Larry Hilton speak in person at a meeting in Highland, Utah and asking him a number of questions to make sure this was not going to turn into some type of scam, we have been with UPMA from the start. Secondly, there have been several instances where I concluded that there are purposeful white lies or lies of omission being told to members to blindside them such as to collect more money on fees such as deposit fees that are not clearly communicated and not realized until after someone makes a deposit. We trusted UPMA with our livelihoods, making deposits and withdrawals of precious metals into our UPMA account is serious business and should deserve serious attention and consideration on when and how rules are changed and why and the timeliness of such changes to the rules. For UPMA to make a huge rule change with zero notice concerning our livelihoods is extremely unprofessional and frankly it's disrespectful. It screams scammy. To put this "no-notice" into perspective, when you rent a house and the landlord wants to sell the house, they should give you at least a 30-days notice so you have time to find a new place to live. Or if the landlord is going to raise the rent, they should give you 30-days notice until the next month rent increases. For a landlord to give you NO notice on either selling the house or raising the rent would be considered not just unprofessional but in many instances, also considered to be unlawful. And if a landlord gave you zero notice in either of those scenarios that would definitely be considered very disrespectful. No landlord would give zero notice to his/her customers if the landlord respected his customers. You would only give zero notice on something so big and significant if you did not respect your customers. Thirdly, now going back to how I said UPMA tells lies of omission. I was now told we can withdraw up to $2.5K a week converting metals to fiat which is not true either because UPMA puts a limit each day on how many total withdrawals can be made from the entire membership base so you can NOT request $2.5K each week, more like maybe $2.5K two times a month. For example, you make a withdrawal request for $2.5K, you wait a week and go in to make another $2.5K request but it says you still can't because too many requests have been made for the day in the entire membership. It's only 8 am. So I check in multiple times throughout the day, and then in the evening. After midnight, I log in again, and again at 6, 9, 11 am in the morning. Every single time it says the total requests for the day have been filled even though no requests could have been made in the last 24 hours since I regularly logged in and it always said all the withdrawal request spots were filled for the day. This was a lie. There were never available spots open to fill for the entire 24+ hours. Then on top of that when you make a withdrawal request, it used to take 1-3 business days to get your fiat cash deposited into your bank account. Now you won't get your money for at least 2 weeks. So no, you cannot withdraw $2.5K a week. That's another lie. You might be lucky to do $7.5K a month but more realistically, expect only to be able to withdraw $5K a month. If I would have known this sudden rule change was going to happen and hold our metals hostage, I would have never used UPMA. UPMA purposely sets the rules and expectations a certain way to attract business, and have new members make deposits and then later on UPMA rips the rug out from underneath us and holds our metals hostage. So I don't trust UPMA. They are not honest. You never know when they're going to do another sudden major rule change without notice making it even harder to get your deposited metal back out. Also, the customer service is not the best. I called multiple times and was told a supervisor was going to call me back which never happened. So I am done using UPMA and am taking my business elsewhere due to the total lack of respect from UPMA.
