I saw an ad and was reminded of this. Although i did lose the weight in the end it was a very bumpy experience and i had the feeling that my doctor didnt know exactly how to treat my case. I suffer from PCOS and had tried every weight loss solution out there. I never wanted to go for surgery as i have clotting problems so this belly balloon sounded like a good option. I had to pay for this myself so had very high expectations and maybe put too much pressure on myself to achieve. At the begining the balloon really feels uncomfy when you sit down and it made me short of breath climbing stairs. I felt uncomfy really the whole 3 monts and couldnt really move around like i wanted, i did lose 2.5 stone in the end and try to keep the weight off through weight loss jabs and other things now. I would recommend people do their research and find a good clinic as mine seemed to be only interested in collecting your money and did not have much time for me when i had questions.

With Allurion I felt informed and had all the information that I needed in order to know this was the best decision for me. The Allurion balloon was insert by drinking water whilst swallowing a capsule, once in position an X-ray was taken to ensure that the position was correct. At all times I felt informed and supported by the nurse specialist and consultant who were outstanding. Once the balloon was inflated they checked I felt comfortable and then I went home. The first three days were uncomfortable because of getting used to the balloon being there. Once I had my nutritionalist advice I was on my way to loosing my weight, the Allurion give you scales which measure fat loss and BMI which helps to keep track. My loss was incredible in 4 months I lost 10Kg. Which I am so proud of. If you asked me would I have it done again my answer would be yes in a heartbeat! My health is better and I can now move more freely

My doctor was great, everyone in the clinic was very helpful in getting me started and the placement was not too bad. I did spill water everywhere which was a little embarrassing on placement day but the staff were helpful in talking me through the process. Once I got home however I did feel a bit on my own and I was not sure what I should or should not be eating or drinking. After one week I was still feeling very sick and had to take more days off work than I wanted to which was a problem as the doctor said I wouldn't have to do that. I would have loved some more nutritional information before going home but the clinic did not provide too much guidence there. Since I have had the treatment I've lost nearly three stone so happy and feel better with myself, I do wish there was just a little more support from the clinic. I could feel the balloon in my tummy for around the first 3 months and didnt even notice it dissapearing. I am now quite determined to keep the weight off so I have joined a local gym and making healthier eating choices.

Had my treatment in Birmingham and couldn't have expected it to be as easy as it was. My doctor and the team at the hospital were so friendly and supportive, I was in and out within and hour. A few days of cramping and felt exhausted but no sickness thank goodness Can't wait to see what I can lose!

Since starting the Allurion program I have felt I have been looked after incredibly well. From my first conversation with the team at Allurion to them partnering me with Chartwell Hospital. It has been a smooth process. I am 6 weeks into my Allurion program and I have learnt so much already on how to change my behaviour and set me up for life. I am also 11lbs down which I am so pleased with! The first couple of days were the worst part with cramping but other than it’s actually been a breeze. If you follow the diet plan and exercise you do see results. The team at Chartwell are really calm and provide a high level of care. I am looking forward to the next 4months of my program!

This is my second balloon and so far so good, I’m aiming for 35kg weight loss in total and at the moment I am seeing around 1kg weight loss per week which is quite nice. The placement of my second balloon was a little easier than my first experience where I was gagging quite a lot but this time it was much smoother and I was talking to the team while they were filling the tummy. I again have some slight discomfort but my doctor had prepared me for this with some medication I had got from the chemist in advance. The biggest challenge for me this time is finding the time to cook healthy meals as I’ve just started a new job, I think it is important for anyone going into this that they realise this tool is not a magic solution and does require a lot of effort. I have seen some people complaining in the support groups that they just expected the weight to fall off but no you’ve got to put the hard work in and follow the advice of the team members. My family are supportive and they realise that with their support I can do a lot better. It is comforting to know that I can feel the balloon inside my stomach now, it is like a friend or support that cheers you on, to make the best decisions about your weight loss. I know I’ll be sad when this balloon goes because I can’t afford another one and I’ll really have to stick to my good behaviour. This solution. Is not for everyone and some people will not be happy with the investment. But for me I’ve seen the weight go down and I’ve never really invested in my health like this before, paying the extra price two times has made me put in two times the amount of effort. I think after this 4 months is over I might try other solutions like weight loss jab but I am hoping I’ve done enough to not need anything more.

Besides the 3kg lost within the first week, simply due to difficulty eating due to nausia and stomach pain (I was made aware of this prior to the procedure) I was very soon able to eat almost exactly the same amount of food as before hand. I put that 3kg back on quickly and lost no further weight. For me, it was a complete waste of $10,000. I also paid for a second XRAY to confirm the balloon was still there at month 3 due to no weight loss- it was there. Based on my experience, I'd strongly reccomend avoiding the costly and useless balloon.

PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU NOT TO EVER CONSIDER THIS HORRIBLE THING IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT YOUR HEALTH. I got the allurion balloon done and couldn’t even stand it for 24 hours. Had to get it removed straight away. The cramps!! The pain?! Seriously what is this?? Who ever made this? I got it done abroad and literally the next morning at 8am I was back at the hospital begging for removal. I didn’t care about the money spent I literally thought I was dying. I had gone pale in colour and was vomitting blood. Please guys DO NOT ever consider this
