Review of Allied affiliate who in…
Review of Allied affiliate who in conjunction with Allied did cross Canada move for us Now that our move from Montreal to Vancouver is finally complete, I feel it is important to share our experience. First, I want to be clear that the crews who handled both the pickup in Montreal and the delivery in Vancouver were professional, courteous and hard working. We had no issues with the men who physically handled our belongings and I want to give them credit for doing their jobs well. Unfortunately our experience with the office and operations side of Meldrum was very different. Moving day in Montreal ! I had contacted Lea our salesperson prior to moving day to advise that we had reserved the elevator and loading bay for 8-10 am time slot on the 31st. On Friday the 28th I received a phone call from Terry the operations manager and was told the truck would arrive between 8-8:30 on the 31st. When the truck hadn’t arrived at 8:30 moving day I called him to see what was going on . He said they were delayed at the scale and would be there any minute. When the truck still hadn’t arrived at 8:50 I called and asked to speak t our salesperson Lea. I left her a message and asked what was going on but never got a response. When the truck finally arrived at 9:00am I asked the crew why they were so late as my time slot was now half over. They said that when they arrived for work the truck they were assigned was full of garbage and lacked the necessary supplies for our move. A few facts the operations manager conveniently neglected. Once our belongings had left Montreal I tried to get an approximate date of delivery as well as find out if we could safely leave home for a few days to visit family on Vancouver Island without missing delivery. After my email to Operations manager went unanswered I phoned to speak with him . I was told he was in the warehouse and he would call back. I explained to the person on the phone it was important he either call back or respond to my email as it was Friday and I needed answers before the weekend.Out of frustration I contacted their affiliate Allied Van lines customer service and expressed my displeasure with the lack of communication. On Sept 17th I received a call from the driver and was told a likely delivery date was the 24th or 25th and he would call on the 22nd to confirm. When I hadn’t heard from him by mid afternoon on the 22nd I called and was told delivery would now be the 25th. At 7:50 am on the 25th I received a call from Meldrums operations manager and was informed the truck had broken down and the delivery wouldn’t take place until Sunday the 27th. Because of his history I immediately contacted the driver to verify. The driver told me he had broken down the previous day and was under the impression the operations manager had called then to advise of the further delay. I’ll leave it to the reader to interpret his behaviour but I fully believe he was butt hurt because of me contacting Allied to voice my displeasure with him. This was an almost $8,000.00 job and although completed on the final day the contract stipulated it had to be delivered, the added stress caused by some individuals at Meldrum causes me to caution others.
