My experience with AIFS was phenomenal. I was supported from the very thought of studying abroad, throughout the process of doing so. Not only did AIFS provide me with an amazing support system of people, but an experience unlike any other. They offered excursions to further my understanding of the country I was in, and even excursions into other countries. I felt that the AIFS team became a second family to me and I’m forever thankful for the program.

I loved my program. Specifically the weekend trips.

I was under the impression my experience would be immersive when it was not. This was a major disappointment. I also had a really annoying time trying to get all the paperwork to the liking of Justin Lee even though his instructions were as vague as possible. I needed disability accommodations that I didn’t get until halfway through my program because Justin Lee didn’t notify anyone. Once in the country, the trips we went on were pretty fun and the overall experience was pretty good. I would not choose this program again though.

I’m so glad I studied abroad through AIFS because it was extremely easy and organized. Flights and accommodation were all taken care of for us which made it so enjoyable. Over the course of the semester I met incredible people and teachers at my school and made lifelong memories!

Great program with many in program opportunities for trips, outings, crafts, and getting involved with Florence community and culture. Matched us up with great apartments in great locations in Florence. AIFS staff was wonderful and very helpful. The program activities helped us all bond, and the meal plan is something that separates this program vastly, from others. It is a very organized program with great opportunities. The only complaints I would have would be that there isn't a huge variety in schools of where students come from, and they grade a little harshly for an abroad program, where there are language and learning style barriers. Overall, I would recommend this program to a friend.

Studying abroad with AIFS was one of the best decisions I could make! The program itself made my abroad experience that much more exciting. AIFS provides you not only with the opportunities to travel and explore the area you are studying in but also to meet a handful of amazing and beautiful people from all over the world. My experience studying abroad with AIFS is one I would do over and over again!

This program was not what I expected. I wanted to be more immersed in the culture, especially through my schooling experience. I believe the environment at Veritas is not compatible for students who want to meet other Costa Rican’s and become friends with locals. There were not very many opportunity’s to experience culture fully, and I was hoping to be immersed in speaking Spanish, but everyone spoke English around me. There were good aspects like the trios and experiences that we got to go on as a big group, and overall the experience was positive. It was just not what I was looking for as a spanish major and Latin American studies minor.
