Greed is not a good commercial value
I booked a 7-day liveaboard directly with Aggressor. Due to a serious family situation (which I disclosed to them), I had to cancel roughly 100 days before departure — a date that is normally sold out well in advance. I was aware of the cancellation policy, but given the circumstances and that this cabin would very likely be resold, I asked for even a partial goodwill gesture — a refund minus any admin costs — rather than a full waiver. I was told twice, clearly, that the policy applies uniformly regardless of reason, refunds aren't tied to resale, and no exceptions are made under any circumstances. I also have comprehensive cancellation insurance, but our situation isn't a covered peril — not unusual for policies in my country, so this wasn't a case of not planning ahead. I understand a company can enforce its policies. But if the cabin gets resold, keeping the cancellation fee on top of the resale amount, in a genuine personal crisis, feels like bad commercial practice rather than "consistency." If you book with Aggressor, know there's zero flexibility, whatever the circumstances.
