Studying and interning with Adelante Abroad in Madrid, Spain, was an incredible experience. The two-month program provided a unique blend of academic learning and hands-on work at a local NGO. My experience with adelante abroad was…
My experience with adelante abroad was much different than I expected. I was excited to come to Seville with an already organized internship and plans for my 8 weeks here, however when I got here, my internship was not finalized. Even though I was told I would have an internship relating to my major, when I got here they told me my internship might not work out and were planning on putting me in an internship completely unrelated to my interests. Eventually I was able to do my initial internship, but didn’t allow me to do what I was expecting to do and I did not do what I was told I would. Additionally, adelante abroad was extremely disorganized and communicated very poorly. I felt very lost and uncertain on what I was supposed to be doing at first, if it weren’t for the friends I made here.

Hannah, thank you for taking the time to write Reviews and we do apologize for your feelings of uncertainty! Your internship was contracted and finalized, as you know. Psychology placements in Europe require more extra steps than any other internship sector: they are serious placements as candidates are working abroad, and in another language, with individuals and groups who are in some form of distress and/or diagnosed with various mental and emotional issues. We have to be double careful! As you state you interned right where you were originally contracted, no changes there, however on arrival the Clinica had a few more requirements that we were not made aware of until your arrival. In an effort to be totally transparent, we let you know about these as we worked on complying with those extra requests so your contacted internship could start on time, which it did. It is clear this could have been confusing and again, we do apologize for that, truly. We know from your work assignment Doctora that they were happy with your work, and though you didn’t reply to any of our regular checking in emails we know from 20 plus years providing this program, that your time interning abroad will benefit you hugely professionally as well as personally (those friends you made in Sevilla, hopefully you are still in contact with them!)

The internship I was in made my experience so unique, they taught me so much about the culture, the pharmacy field, and Spanish. I have never felt so welcomed and encouraged.

The experience of a lifetime!
I did an internship in Barcelona with Adelante Abroad and it was an amazing experience. I was super happy with my accommodation, the Spanish school, my internship and the experience as a whole. I made some amazing friends and had a truly wonderful time. The Adelante Abroad team was very helpful and communicative as well. I truly cannot recommend enough! 10/10

Veronica, from your other reviews we know you enjoyed your time in the Equine classes and learning about riding this Summer with us in Scotland. This marks year 15 that we have sent students abroad to do Equine in Scotland! The final program dates were set and published in November 2023 for the Summer 2024 program. Also, we offered several meet and greets for the whole group, via Zoom, three in total, sending out invites to all of them. These are not mandatory and we understand if some cannot make the dates and times, which is why we make sure to organize three of them. As to transportation in and around Scotland, bus and train times are provided to you in the “Arrival Info” sheet we send out to you before you depart, it is outlined for all of you in the Orientation meeting your first day abroad, and is also widely available online. Thank you again for taking the time to complete a Review and we are certain your time abroad with us was lifechanging and one you won’t soon forget.

We received the government regulations from Scotland about new safety requirements for vests (body protectors and hybrid air jackets) and riding hats the day we sent them out to you and the rest of the Equine group: not ideal, we know, but we had no control over those changes nor did we want our advanced riders / those who jump to arrive with the incorrect equipment and be unable to participate. Also, we offered several meet and greets which you mention below, via Zoom, three in total, sending out invites to all of them. AMAZING
Everything was great, it was beautiful and we got to see a lot while we studied. Everyone was super helpful even the locals, and I made so many friends here. This was a once in a lifetime experience and I am so glad I was able to go on this trip.
