Total legit Audiobook platform that has since been over taken by foreign AI scammers. BEWARE. You'll get solicits from offshore / offsite garbage 'promising' penny wages, for ridiculous "transitioning gigs" that require Whatsapp / Telegram nonsense.
The heck, ACX? No real Support page anymore to contact or send a complaint, taken over by Bots.

Terribly Upsetting
I trusted ACX because it is Amazon's audiobook platform and assumed the narrators available through their marketplace had been properly vetted.
I received several auditions and chose a narrator who assured me the audiobook would be recorded by a human. I paid the required deposit through ACX and, after revisions were completed, paid the remaining balance.
A short time later, ACX rejected the audiobook because the narrator had used AI-generated narration, which violates their policies. The narrator's account was removed, my audiobook project was cancelled, and I lost approximately $1,000.
What concerns me most is that authors are expected to pay narrators before ACX completes its quality review. If the narrator breaks the rules, the author bears the financial loss even though the author relied on the narrator's representations and hired them through ACX's own marketplace.
I understand and support ACX's policy requiring human narration. My issue is with the lack of protection for authors who act in good faith. There should be better screening of narrators before they accept paid work, or payment should be held until ACX confirms the audiobook meets its requirements.
I eventually had to start the entire process over with a new narrator, costing me additional time, stress, and money.
If you're using ACX, be aware that even if you hire someone through their platform and they assure you the narration is human, you could still be left paying for work that ACX ultimately rejects.

Rotten to the Core
Scandalous management, racketeering and literally robbing aspiring authors and general public in gobsmacking amounts.
They munch the lion's share of everything
Create contracts that are stacked in favour of them
Create bounty programmes that are worth less than the cyberspace they're written on...
Raise a glass to the Cartel !

Too many fake titles
Too many fake titles and copyright-infringing projects that get deleted after narrators finish the work.

What a ripoff
What a ripoff
I opened an account
Followed all the steps instructed ny the site
I fill out what I wanted as a narrator
ACX sends out a query and I got many audition samples. About 100
Most sounded like AI
I found a nice voice. I asked if it was AI, I was assured it was human. I paid 50%
When it was completed I had corrections
It was done and I paid the rest.
While waiting for the final step. ACX emails me my account has been cancelled. No explanation, it's all gone. I sent emails to find out. Finally they inform me that the producer used artificial voice and it was against their policy. They reprimanded me that I broke the rules and should have gone to a blog before hiring someone.
Now I'm out the money
No way to contact the producer.
ACX does not take any responsibility for their people. If I hire someone on the ACX recommendation list why should I be penalized?

Serious Safety Issues — ACX Must Improve OversightTitle
Review:
My experience with ACX raised major concerns about author safety. A producer engaged in inappropriate behavior, and because ACX does not require payments to be made through their platform, I paid directly. Afterward, the project was cancelled and ACX provided no real protection or resolution.
A platform of this size should have stronger vetting, better monitoring of producer conduct, and clear safeguards for authors. Until ACX addresses these issues, I cannot recommend using it.

Unreliable narrators and some are…
Unreliable narrators and some are narcisstic toward the author. Marketers infiltrate their system by pretending to be authors or narrators. Its disgusting to be told your work is unprofessional and amateurish. There is so much negativity with the self publishing industry in general. At least real publishers have morals.

ACX Debacle
I woke up this morning to find that I was scammed by an ACX "producer." My book, which had been completed and was in the queue for publication was flagged as being a product of text-to-speech software. I suspected at a point that that might be the case. But I like what was being created. My story is about AI, and the voice worked for me. Anyway, as the whole thing unraveled, I found out I'd been scammed. The funny thing is, there were pages of correspondence between me and this producer. Whoever they were, they were putting in a lot of work to scam me out of a few hundred bucks. Weird. For the benefit of others, here's what I wrote to ACX. Scammers aside, I think the ACX system could use improvement.
Dear ACX,
I am very disappointed and upset to learn that my audiobook, Stones of
Abraham, has been removed.
I began this process at the suggestion of a friend of mine, who is also an
ACX producer. Acting in good faith, I went through the process of claiming
my title, setting up my project and searching for a producer.
After selecting a producer, I went through a nearly month-long process of
reviewing chapters, sending revisions, and reviewing updates. Finally, I
approved the finished book and, in compliance with the ACX system, sent
my final payment. Now, I am learning that all that work and money was for
nothing. So, apparently, I was ripped off!
In my opinion, the ACX system is seriously flawed. It is being used to
perpetuate fraud and does not serve its customers.
1] I should not only be finding out now that my producer was a fraud. ACX
should vet its producers beforehand. Michelle B. (my producer) was
presented as a legitimate producer. She had audio samples. If she was using
text-to-speech software, that should have been detected when she submitted
those samples.
2] Nowhere on the top level Getting Started pages is it stated that
text-to-speech software is prohibited. I can understand this policy, and
apparently, I allowed myself to be deceived. But to bury that information
in the bowels of your website is not good business practice. It should be
stated in BIG BOLD LETTERS on the Find Talent page that text-to-speech
software is prohibited. I was new to this process and I feel that, as an
author, I was not being cared for as a customer.
3] The payment system ACX has set up is fundamentally flawed. Having the
author remit payment directly to the producer via a third-party payment
system is wrong. ACX should have its own escrow-like payment system set up
(like eBay) where funds are not released until the product is approved.
So, that's my vent. Caveat emptor!
