There is no hell like being chronically…
There is no hell like being chronically sick and at the mercy of a company like this with specialty medications, my experience with them is horrid and with how bad this went it feels illegal?! When we switched to Accredo specialty pharmacy (not by choice but they covered my specialty meds) asked for a prior authorization to fill a specialty medication, after my doctor sent them 5 authorizations and sent our old specialty pharmacy 2 authorizations because a few Accredo reps asked that we do that to the confusion of the CVS specialty pharmacist, health advocate and myself. CVS reps on the line would explain thats not how specialty med transfers work and that a previous specialty pharmacy has nothing to do with a patient's new one! When your'e sick and desperate you will do what they want even if it doesn't make sense. Almost a month ahead of time we got ready for the new insurance to easily transfer everything for the medication to be approved. I reached a serious breaking point and put in a state of emotional distress due to sitting by a phone 2-3 hours a day coming off treatment, losing my health progress, my work suffered, since I would try to multitask keeping Accredo on the phone, who would hang up if I asked them to hold a minute or so and restart the hold process all over again. Every day I called started to feel like a waste of time and I tried to find alternatives to treatment… After I clocked in a total of 23 hours of phone calls over the course of 2 months with the assistance of 2 different health advocates, Accredo transferred us to over 7 different departments and on the third month of missed treatment and many more hours of phone calls, it was later found that Accredo has a team for this particular medication, and they are the only ones who can view it or be notified?! THEY HAD EVERYTHING THEY NEEDED TO FILL MY MEDICATIONS THE ENTIRE TIME AND I WENT WITHOUT TREATMENT FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON due to their IRRESPONSIBILITY and PURE NEGLIGENCE! If we never spoke with the one random Accredo rep who pointed this out, I WOULD STIL BE WITHOUT MEDICATION even though it's COVERED and APPROVED!!!!!!! Thank you Accredo for giving me PTSD and letting me know that even if you know a system well, pick a plan based on what I need covered it can all go up in flames and make me question life!
