Excellent Kenyan safari
11 nights in Kenya involving 3 nights in Nairobi and the remainder split between 2 camps. Hemingway’s Hotel in Nairobi is lovely, unlike the city which, although bustling and lively, is one big traffic jam. First lesson we learned is to spend as little time there as possible. First camp, Lewa House, was a fantastic experience. Very welcoming and efficient owners, good accommodation with superb views and next to a water hole which attracts giraffes, buffalo etc. Great guide and we saw everything, and close up. Lions, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, rhinos ( inc black), hippos, hyenas etc etc....and every day. Food excellent as was the company. I can not recommend this establishment more highly. 2nd camp, Cottars 1920 Camp, was good but not as welcoming. Guide a bit on the lazy side. Great variety of wildlife and being in Mara region, in greater quantities. Took up the offer of a balloon flight but at £950 per couple feel this was grossly overpriced, irrespective of the weather. Low cloud meant we saw little wildlife and spent most of the time looking at cotton wool. Oh well. A&K did a very efficient job of arranging all this and everything went according to plan. I was very impressed and became quite confident of their abilities. Clearly they have a lot of experience and expertise in East Africa. Overall, a fantastic trip.
