Abercrombie & KentReviews of abercrombiekent.com

Bait and Switch! A&K advertises as offering impeccable service to its customers, unfortunately that was not my experience. I spent several hours reviewing my requirements with A&K for my milestone birthday, they talked the talk but when I started my tour, the services were not provided, I could not get any response from the company via email or voice messages. I chose to cancel my trip midway based on the lack of service provided and did not want to risk being in the middle of the Nile in Egypt with no way of getting to safety.

We had a number of problems during our holiday which A&K would have been made aware of but there has been no contact from A&K during or since the holiday.

Mas Royal Villa in Provence - I think this is the first time I have ever sent in a 1 star review. The villa and surroundings themselves were excellent - crazy amazing really, but amazingly poor service from A&K Villas staff combined with other Villa-related items gives this a 1 star review. Again the villa was amazing - but the service staff was mostly made up of brand new US cooking school interns who did not know the villa (had been there one week before we arrived) and also had no service experience so they didn't know basics like how to open a bottle of wine or make coffee. They tried really hard though and charmed us with their hard work and effort. The Chef was amazing and the housekeepers same. Another horrible issue was the villa owner added a random $10,000 charge at the end for "event services" which was neither on the contract nor were we told about it in advance. When I inquired about it I was told that we should have been told about it up front by A&K Villas - at any rate it wasn't part of the rental contract and we did not pay it. Regarding A&K Villas - the villa was listed as coming with a personal concierge and a butler. The villa had neither. A&K Villas staff in London and France attempted to arrange our guests transfers to and from the airport but mis-spelled names, got times wrong, and even though the request for the transfers was made more than month out they did not get us the info regarding them until the week of the trip. My opinion is that I would not recommend Abercrombie & Kent Villas based on my experience. I would definitely recommend their travel planning and travel hosting services as I have used them many times - much better than A&K Villas.

I've had a really hard time with your customer service, my emails are very rarely replied to and I have to ask several times to get questions answered. I paid for the Gold package and don't feel like I've had any benefit from that at all. I hope when we get to the Villa things get better, but so far the process has been very disappointing.

Zarassi Estate Villa is not a staffed Villa as advertised by A&K but operates as either an overpriced Restraurant with rooms or an overpriced boutique hotel. You will not find any reference to Zarassi Estate on arrival or during your stay but only Allegria from the name of the Villa at the gate, to the name above the sofas outdoors and on the bill at the end of your stay for limited exaggeratedly overpriced lunch and dinner menus during your stay served in a beautiful environment but inundated with flies. Be prepared for a very disappointing experience.

We have appreciate the perfect matching of the program that we have planned together and the services during our journey.

Stay away! Had the misfortune of entrusting Chris Hamlin from Abercrombie & Kent UK to organise our honeymoon to Tanzania and Zanzibar. 10 days trip, paid 7.3k GBP for two people, Excluding the flights to/from Tanzania. In Zanzibar we were placed to a dilapidated 3* star hotel with sea water in the shower, no air conditioning and poor Wi-fi connection. In the ‘luxury honeymoon itinerary’ brochure compiled by Mr Hamlin, the hotel was described as an ‘ideal retreat for those looking for that extra special honeymoon or a holiday with an air of exclusivity’. The fact that the hotel was of mere 3 stars and is missing air conditioning was omitted from the brochure. Upon return, we contacted Mr Hamlin and requested a breakdown of the costs of our trip as after checking online the prices of the places we stayed at the numbers failed to add up. Mr Hamlin referred us to an equally unhelpful Mr Craig Masters who argued that the hotel was a valuable addition to their portfolio and refused to provide any breakdown. Moreover, he advised that for our budget that hotel was our best shot...Disappointing experience but a good life lesson...
