42nd Street PhotoReviews of 42photo.com

I was scammed by this company. Was sold gray market lens and camera for regular price -meaning no warranty for the products but was told prior to sale that products had US warranty. After I made purchase I tried to register products and was told by manufacturers they couldn’t honor warranty because the company is not an authorized dealer for products. These people are pigs.

Worst client service !! Never buy there again. I was mislead when buying a lens through the website and was overcharged $300 more !!

Called them to make sure the lens I want (a $10k Canon 600/4 II) is available. The sales person was extremely rude and said "he doesn't have time" to deal with me, and I should just place an order and wait and pray. What a joke :)

I ordered a camera from these people 8 days ago. I've checked every day and the order says "processing." So then, I get an automated e-mail asking me if I got my equipment. (How can I when I was never given a tracking number???) So I call the 888 number on their website. No one answers at ANY of the options except for the actual store in NYC. (I suppose the other two lines or for internet/international orders and whatnot.) I get transferred around 3 times - interrupted non-stop with the rude New York attitudes - and then finally a guy tells me the camera has been discontinued and offers me a more expensive camera, but not for the same price. Why on earth do they have discontinued equipment on their website??? If they do, why not offer to make it right??? The camera that they were going to replace it with was only $100 difference. That - combined with the fact that I had to CALL IN to find out my order WAS NEVER COMING TO ME is enough to give me that credit. Dude then goes on to tell me (of course, via interruption) that my cc was never charged. I have no way to know this because I took out a one-time Affirm loan and they in turn gave me a one-time-use cc that was active for 24 hours. I don't know if the thing has been used or not - so now I have to call Affirm, see if the card has been charged, get the transaction reversed if it has been and ALL THIS because these people have an outdated website that they refuse to update or shut up long enough to allow the customer to get the whole story out. There was no apology or anything. I could either spend more money or *click* the conversation is over. I should've known better. These guys were selling the camera BRAND NEW for a few bucks less than someone selling it USED. I read the reviews on these folks before I purchased and got rave reviews, but clearly these people are fakes because the only thing they do fast is place your order and charge you and give you an order number. After that, it's up to you to contact them and find out what the issue is. ONE E-MAIL could've fixed this.

They sold me a nikon d810 and slapped on a 299.00 BS warrranty without telling me. The first clue was there was no receipt in the box. I think these people are con men. Then if you have any kind of problem with your GREY market camera you are screwed. Trust me you will be much better off looking somewhere elese. I think they wrote most of the good reviews!!

Wow wish I had read some of these negative reviews before being drawn in by the bait price on a new Nikon D850. The bait and upselling reported elsewhere was full on, really have never experienced anything like it before. Feel used and a bit of an fool that I ended up with the worst deal ever as a result and would have been much cheaper to buy just what I needed from a reputable company. The sales guy oversold a package which included a number of so called 'quality items' that you later find are cheap end items and the package ends up far higher than you started out having been drawn in by the advertised price online. The import model tale was trotted out and price inflated for non import (assumed that means not grey import) model but then you are in conversation and prices are not mentioned, package components proposed are not given itemised prices, everything bundled and then you cannot cancel elements. I tried to find all the items after on their website and they worked out at least the same as if bought individually!! Some package! Cancellation is made ridiculously difficult, 20% restocking fee threatened even when the package had not been dispatched (and frankly I'm sure hadn't even been assembled). As an example a 'high speed SD' card in the package was later found to have added over $500, and it is not one that is a recognised make. In fact I have found later it is a bogus item which does not even meet the advertised specification, no wonder that 42nd St photo are the only supplier. When the package arrived the camera was in a previously opened kit box with the kit lens removed and looks like a return, which gives no confidence as to origin. When queried I was told these cameras were just not available so I was lucky to get one although they were in stock with lots of companies by that time. The Black Rapid strap I ordered had a different standard strap substituted. I was later given a 'Black Rapid' strap that is in fact a cheap knock off that has fallen apart in a couple of months. All in all I'm embarrassed to admit I ended up going through with the transaction despite many reservations and I still regret it. In the UK I'd go to the consumer standards office as items are not as described and the whole selling process is laced with untruths. BUY ANYTHING HERE WITH THE GREATEST CAUTION AND CLARITY OR YOU TOO WILL HAVE REGRETS

You really need to watch this company , They are thieves I ordered new Sony Camcorder for $3699.00 on their web side says NEW after I paid for it I get email from Jack that he needs to talk to me I call him he first asked my address while he had my shipping address then he told me do you want to buy the package's I told him no Then This is what he said YOUR USED CAMERA IS ON YOUR WAY YOU SHOUD HAVE IT IN 48 HOURS I TOLD HIM I PURCHASED NEW CAMERA NOT USED . I don't think I can trust this place at all

these guys pulled a classic bait and switch on me. I ordered a $999 lens from their website on July 2nd 2018 the next day it said it was scheduled to ship. On July 9th I get a call from some salesman confirming I knew I was ordering the non-USA model. I wasn't aware of that since it does not say that on their website, but the "nice" man was willing to charge me just another $100.99 to upgrade to the USA model. Nope, just cancel my order. He kept pressuring me to spend the extra $100.99 and wouldn't let me cancel my freaking order. Now I need to contact my credit card company to dispute the purchase. Don't waste your time with these guys, just go to one of the reputable businesses and pay a few dollars more. TL;DR - 42nd street photo uses a classic bait and switch tactic to lure business in and then charge their customers more.
