Follow-Up to My Previous Review
Follow-Up to My Previous Review: “Toxic Workplace” When I wrote my review of 20Four7VA two or three days ago, I intended it to be my only review. However, today I received an email from Trustpilot informing me that 20Four7VA had disputed my review, citing the use of harmful content. The review was temporarily taken down but, fortunately, has since been reinstated. This experience has only reinforced my concerns and, in my view, raises further questions about how employee and agent concerns are handled. Rather than addressing issues openly and seeking to understand the circumstances, there appears to be a tendency to sweep them under the rug. When problems become too difficult to ignore, terminating the agent seems to be the easier option than having an honest conversation and working towards a resolution. The clients’ interests appear to take priority, with everything else coming second. Agents may find it difficult to communicate freely or report concerns because there are no clear, independent channels for doing so. Your primary point of contact is your SME or manager, who also closely monitors your work. Changing that point of contact can be difficult, as doing so may put you at risk of receiving a negative review, which can push your name to the bottom of the pool and leave you without an endorsement should your contract with that client end. For example, if a client prefers communicating through WhatsApp, a group may be created with as many as six members, even though only the agent and client actually use it for work-related communication. Agents are explicitly instructed to use that group for all communication and avoid discussing any issues related to payments/clauses within the contract. If they ask what your pay is you as the agent are required to tell them to talk to your manager. It is understandable that some clients eventually move to direct messages or other communication channels when this arrangement becomes inconvenient or unnecessary. To businesses using 20Four7VA’s services: Please make an effort to check in privately with your virtual assistants and understand their working conditions. Some agents may be dealing with immense pressure from the people managing them, yet speaking up or attempting to address these issues can put their jobs at risk. You may be getting the service you paid for, but it is worth asking what it takes for the person delivering that service to meet your expectations. It is also worth examining the compensation structure. Some roles reportedly charge clients’ businesses or end clients at rates of around $8 per hour while the agent receives only $3 per hour. Businesses should consider whether the compensation is fair given the responsibilities involved. No one deserves to be bullied, abused, or subjected to racial attacks, regardless of their position or circumstances. To fellow agents: Develop resilience, protect your well-being, and understand your worth. If you choose to pursue a career in real estate with 20Four7Va, I wish you all the best. It can be a wonderful career opportunity, with plenty of room for professional growth. However, no job should become a constant source of anxiety, stress, and emotional pain, especially when the compensation is at times as low as $3 an hour. Ultimately, a healthy working relationship requires mutual respect, open communication, and accountability. Agents deserve to be treated as people, not merely as replaceable resources. Businesses deserve reliable service, but that should never come at the expense of an agent’s dignity and well-being.
