BUYER BEWARE: ZOOM CAR RENTAL — FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA Zoom Car Rental lured me in with what appeared to be a cheap rental rate that I prepaid upfront. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was confronted with insurance requirements that completely changed the cost of the rental. Here are the facts prospective renters need to know: * $300,000 in required coverage: I was told my personal auto insurance had to meet this minimum coverage requirement. * $80 PER DAY for their insurance: If my personal insurance did not meet their requirements, I had to purchase their insurance at an additional $80 per day. * No option to decline: I was told that without purchasing their insurance, I could not rent the vehicle, despite having already prepaid. * No in-person customer service: The process was handled through a virtual assistant in a booth, with no employee physically available to address my concerns. These requirements should be made crystal clear before customers pay—not discovered after they arrive to collect a vehicle they have already paid for. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM ZOOM CAR RENTAL AGAIN, AND I WILL ACTIVELY WARN OTHER CONSUMERS ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE. I refuse to let another unsuspecting traveler fall into the same situation without knowing what they may be getting themselves into. It is now my personal mission to make sure prospective customers hear about these practices before spending a single dollar with this company. I want people to read reviews like mine, ask questions, understand the insurance requirements, and seriously consider taking their business elsewhere. I believe this business model deserves serious scrutiny. Customers deserve transparent pricing, upfront disclosure, and real customer service—not unexpected charges and no one available in person to help. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE BOOKING. Do not judge this company by its advertised rental rate alone. Read the fine print, verify your insurance coverage, and calculate the actual cost before paying. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I will never give Zoom Car Rental another dollar, and I intend to do everything within my rights to make sure other consumers have the information they need to make an informed decision. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

The company is a scam They will steal your deposit and claim they have refunded you. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY MORE OF YOUR MONEY! I didn't even use the car and returned it without using it because it was asinine that I had to pay a $1000 deposit. then, to add salt to the wound, they claimed that there was a disclaimer on Expedia (where I rented the car from) which there was not. I went back and forth with their laughable 'customer service' with misspelled emails and run arounds of explanations doing anything but paying back my deposit. If you have given these people your money, contact your bank immediately and get a charge back cus you will not get your money back otherwise. I am honestly surprised that there is not a class action lawsuit against this company based on the same stories from other reviews of deposits being outright stolen and not returned. Their 'system has been down' dating back to the first reviews I can find and even then people were not getting their deposits back. if there is a lawyer reading this, get in contact with us. you might be able to win big with this case as it seems like a slam dunk.

The worst rental I’ve ever had Incredibly rude staff at the front desk. Scammed me out of my money. I Booked our car for 12pm didn’t get picked up from the airport port until after 12:30 pm Was not informed of the $1000 security deposit until after I paid for the daily use of the car. It’s also not listed anywhere on their website sight. They only send the information regarding the deposit after you pay for your car. I said I could pay with visa debit and they wouldn’t take it as payment for the security deposit, only credit card. They then proceeded to tell me if I can’t find a way to pay for it I don’t get the car, so I was out the cost of a car for the day, never refunded that money and had to proceed to book an uber back from their office to my hotel. Would not recommend at all.

Worst car rental experience ever. Drip and predatory pricing. They will not honor that get you in the door price no matter what insurance is provided. They said insurance provided was not adequate (it was) and charged an extra $30 a day not for their insurance but for waiver to accept my own insurance which they said had too high a deductible. They will find any excuse or hidden extra fees to be the same price (or higher) than a reputable rental car company that's actually on site at the airport. They gave me a car with expired registration and since was paying almost 10x what was originally agreed and contracted, told them to just cancel entire reservation and pick up the car. They refused to cancel or pick up vehicle and said I would be charged for entire rental. Explained car is not legal to drive or return, they didn't care. Ultimately they had no choice to remedy having a car out with expired registration, picked up the car and refunded after I initiated a credit card dispute. Then of course got additional charges on card after car was returned, impossible to get anyone on the phone to ask what charge was for. Maybe it was gas for the 12 miles I drove and whatever additional miles they racked up driving it back. Bottom line, pay they extra $20 bucks a day to book somewhere reputable that's actually on airport as Zoom/Stride/Zip or whatever shell name they are using that day will not honor that cheap teaser rate just to get you in the door and after the hour shuttle to get there you will be too tired and desperate to argue.

If there were negative stars, I would give them -5. I paid for a rental car in March. I arrived at IAH. My family and I had to wait for over 40 minutes in humid and hot weather for a shuttle to take me and my family to the car rental agency. When we arrive there, I am told to go into a small closet where there is a monitor. An agent came on and I gave him all of my information including insurance coverage. He told me that I had to pay for extra insurance. I balked at paying since I had good car insurance plus my credit card provides extra coverage. Ultimately, they refused to rent me a car. I had to pay for an Uber to take us to my sister's house. The next day I was able to rent a car from Budget. When I emailed Zoom and Expedia through whom I rented the and asked for my money back, Zoom refused and Expedia claimed they couldn't get them to budge. I consider Zoom Rent-a-Car a bunch of grifters. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!

Horrible experience. No one to help at front desk only help is a virtual call in a booth. The price is online are not the prices you pay when you rent the car. Huge Up sale, they make you get this focus insurance. We rented a midsize SUV, we received a small SUV with a check engine light on completely dirty on the inside. Smells disgusting. We didn’t leave the lot and tried to return the car so we could just go to Hertz like they usually use at the airport. They did not allow us to cancel. Said there would be a cancellation fee, even though we didn’t even drive the car out of the parking lot which also had scratches and dents all over it. And did I mention that the AC did not work in the car? Horrible horrible horrible. Don’t waste your time. I would give it a negative 500 star review if I could.

I'm not sure how they're still in business. They're total crooks. The shuttle does not come every 15-20 minutes like they state. The building is a dump. The virtual desk agent doesnt work. The car itself is a total P.O.S. Everybody in the waiting area had a frown. And let me just say it again... the $500 deposit?? Kiss it goodbye. They'll send you a bogus receipt saying the credit is coming and then it doesn't. I'm urging you to listen to me... do not use this company!! All the negative reviews are real, and the good ones are fake. You will be dissapointed!! And you will not get your deposit back. You've been warned.
