It was a disaster.

HORRIBLE customer service; rude, they damage people property and don’t pay for it.

My significant other (a front line worker) and I are expecting. My boyfriend had to work and therefore could not assist me in packing and moving my things out of my NJ apartment to begin my move to Florida. I had called asking for a quote on a "1 bedroom, 1 living room apartment measuring 770sq.ft. from Raritan, NJ to a storage unit (being 10 minutes apart). I was told that it would be $560 flat fee for the move. I was asked if I had inventoried my items and what larger items I have that were being moved. I stated I had a king bed/2 box springs/ head board & bed frame; 1 tall boy dresser; 1 jewelry armoire; a sectional couch; 2 50" tv's; approx. 7 medium boxes. I was not asked anything else about any personal belongings. Fast forward to the moving date, the movers were on time. That I give a star for. When they finally did arrive, they arrived in a van! The main guy was seemingly kind but stated that I had more stuff than what was written on his list. I was told that I had a total of 10 boxes, not 7 so those could not be taken. I also had wrapped up in bags, my couch cushions and pillows for ease of moving the sectional. I was also told those super lightweight items could not be moved because they were not on the list. In addition to that, I had all my clothing on hangers and packed in garment bags. The moving company seemed to elude to literally wanting inventory of EVERY SINGLE ITEM. I was never asked for that. I am one person, who is pregnant, cannot lift heavy items and was directed by my doctor to take it easy. So why would I intentionally put the onus on myself to "move" any items when I specially hired a moving company to do exactly that. Moving on, I had one TV that I did inform the moving company of that I did not have a tv box for. I was told that could be accommodated but it would be extra. I obliged. When the mover brought in the "tv box" it was a SMALL regular box to pack items in. The box then had been broken down to attempt to cover the tv around all sides. That is absolutely absurd! I could have packed the tv myself and not had been charged the additional $20 to wrap a small box around my tv and call it packed. About a half an hour later, I got a phone call regarding my "extra stuff" stating that I pay twice the amount, now totaling $1,120. The person I spoke to stated I could pay the additional amount (which was doubled) to have another crew come to move "the extra items" being my pillows, clothes and remaining three boxes. At the end of the day, I had to do the remaining move myself. It took me the entire rest of the day and was honestly the most miserable moving experience I have ever experienced. I had no dolly, no help, and had to manage to be able to get all of my belongings out of the unit by 5pm that day to turn in my keys. At the end of the day, the communication between customer and company was horrible and I felt I was being taken advantage of and in my state. That being said, I do not recommend this company. But if you chose to hire, make sure you list EVERYTHING you own before committing to the move and make sure it is documented by the company and you personally sign off. Out of all the moves I have done in my lifetime, I have never been asked about personal or small items. This was my first experience of a company counting every single piece being picked up by a mover, big or small. Their response: I was told to Read my contract. There was never a contract provided first of all. Nothing I ever signed or executed. The correspondence or "contract" as they call it, was ONE email with bullet points. Hardly a contract being that I work in the legal field. The CO. blatantly lied as they did NOT make a second trip for me. ONE trip was made as I refused to pay an additional $560 for a few additional items (not double the items as stated). That also being said, no additional items were packed onto the VAN. Not one. As the mover stated to me, "sorry we could not accommodate packing anything else for you. As to the reply below from the movers... THERE WAS NEVER A CONTRACT PROVIDED. I am a lawyer and clearly know how to read as such. Your bullet point “email” was not a contract. And your so called sales rep, should have been more efficient, detailed and professional in asking questions specific to the move. Hence what they are hired to do. TO PROVIDE INFORMATION. Therefore, there would have been no miscommunication. I hope your future or potential interested clients read how unprofessional your response was. As you all can see... All I get was, READ YOUR CONTRACT. You just proved my point. Well done!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. You price was given based on the list you provided, it was mentioned to you by your sales person when you booked your move and it also was stated on the CONTRACT. We sent a truck based on the list provided, however you had 2 times more items than you listed before booking. We had to make 2 trips to move everything which is why we had to offer you another quote for the 2nd trip. We moved Everything you contracted with us to move and slightly more, at no additional cost, until truck was full. You should have read your CONTRACT and be more accurate with the list of items you provided. Thank you!

When the movers showed up over an hour late they gave a different price altogether plus what we had already paid online. They took apart a table that’s insane to put back together, stored it in my basement and left it there. Wrapped, taken apart and just there. Never again with this company

It sucks and your movers are con artists who tried to hustle me for $200.

ZeroMax movers gave me a quote, then tried to raise the price within 12 hours of the initial estimate! I had already put a down payment when they told me that I’d have to give more up front. Then, they were four hours late on the day of the move! I think they double booked me, because when I called the day before to confirm, they had no record of my being scheduled to move. They severely jeopardized my ability to complete my move that day because I was supposed to be in my new apt by 5 pm - around the time they arrived! Horrible experience; use with caution.

After living in New York for the last decade, I've moved every year or two and tried many different moving companies. This was by far the worst moving company I've ever worked with. ZeroMax moving borders on a fraudulent business. For weeks we sent pictures, explained in detail the move, explained we needed a big truck, three movers and we were making two stops. We received a quote, we compared it with three other companies and it was the lowest, so we booked them. The day before the move I get a call and they ask for 100% of payment upfront, I should have realized this was the red flag of a scam. Day of the move, only two movers showed up at 11:30 am, proceeded to slowly load the truck with many cigarette breaks. Finally at 4pm EST we left the 700 square foot apt 1bedroom apt we were moving from, 4+ hours to just put the boxes and furniture in the truck. As we get to the second stop to pick up a few more things, I get a call from the Sales person sitting the office (Alex), who proceeds to explain why he wants to charge me for more things. Some, valid we had 10 more boxes than planned. They attempted to double charge us on many items, ask for more money for any excuse they could come up with. In the middle of the move he blackmails me for more money or won't finish the move, they do this after they have already driven away with all my stuff. I cave, and pay them because it's so late, getting dark and still have a whole "move in" to complete. We get to the house we are moving into and the mover says "I didn't know there were stairs". This time I get a call from a more junior sales person bc Alex went home, who tells me he wants more money for the stairs and admits they need three people and Alex didn't put the correct information in for the move. He tells me the guys won't unload the truck unless I let him charge my card for more. So again, I had to give them more money to complete the job It's now 7pm, and it becomes clear they can't do the job without a third person, so after spending thousands of dollars, I have to unload the truck and fill in as the third mover. The movers were great, it's hard hard work and they got screwed by sleazy sales people who sit in an office. The move final ends at 930pm. I gave the guys some sandwiches for dinner, a nice tip, thanked them for the work and they let me know this is very typical of their sales people in the office. A days later, we realize they didn't give us back my tools and the cord to our peloton was missing. We called and asked for it, we're told three different times they would come to bring it back but they never showed. Finally, over a week later, they brought back my tools and made no mention of the peloton cord which was clearly lost (and isn't cheap to replace. They took no responsibility and stopped responding to us. Zeromax moving is not flat rate, it isn't easy, it's barely a legitimate business. It's either incompetent amateurs or fraudulent blackmailers. Either way, there are so many high quality, fast, and efficient movers out there. There's no reason to add the stress of this company to the already stressful "Moving Day". Good luck in your move! Avoid this company at all cost. If you have a similar experience, do the write thing and warn others about Zeromax. Edit - their response 80% false. Just full on lying about the cost, numbers and days in which they didn’t return my items. All just lies to lure someone else into their scam.

Thank you Andrew for taking the time to write a review. We believe you moved on 11/02 under name Katie Lederman. And we charged you extra, not only for 10 additional boxes as you stated in your review, but you had 21 extra boxes and 14 decent size bags, and a lot of Miscellaneous, we charged you extra $295 for the extras for this out of state move(60 Miles distance- also including a stop in between). After you reported to our office that you had a tool box missing, we arranged a delivery of that the missing box the following day and we delivered to your new location which was 60 miles from our parking lot. For the lost cort, we offered you a proper refund/ reimbursement and sent you an email which Katie left not answered. Anyways, we wish you all the best at your new place, and if you still need assistance with that lost cable you can reply back to our email. Thank you.
