Predatory practices, Awful experience
I got the 2 month subscription for $1. Since I started with the service I noticed that there was no way to turn off the automatic renewal or to cancel from the customer service page. A few days before the billing day, I called the number and there was an automatic message saying that the service was not available during the weekend, which was very annoying. Then, I called Monday, but since it was Labor day the service was still not available. I even noticed that when I tried calling the number again it simply did not connect, as if they had blocked me. Today (Tuesday), I called to cancel, even though it was the billing day I was trying to avoid. I tried to call the free number (I have AT&T and I live in Mexico so calls in the NAFTA area are technically free for me), but it would not connect, as is they were trying to impede me from calling to cancel, even though it had connected before. I had to call the other number, which, apparently, generated a charge on my phone bill to cancel my subscription (the auto-renewal). I waited in line for a few minutes and then a woman answered. The sound quality of the call was terrible, I could barely understood what she was saying; a very confusing and frustrating call. Apparently, the auto-renewal is off, but I don't know if they will charge for the month ($4.99). I turned off my debit card, so they could´t charge me anything automatically , but who knows. A horrible, horrible customer experience, I don't think I would recommend anyone to get the a subscription. Use the library computer or somewhere that has access to the WSJ, but never buy the subscription. Good journalism, Predatory practices.
