For a paper that loves to write articles on corporate theft, they set the perfect example of it by making it impossibly difficult to cancel your account. For this reason, I’ll never sign up with them again.

The WSJ has long prided itself on being one of the preeminent newspapers of record, a staunch defender of the best traits of capitalism, while fearlessly shining the light on abuses within the system. And indeed there is still much to admire of the writing and analysis within the WSJ to justify a discounted digital subscription. So when the time comes to cancel or suspend your WSJ digital subscription, it is something of a surprise to find yourself mired in a Kafkaesque maze of deliberate obfuscation, deception and antiquated bureaucracy better suited to some plodding Communist country. At worst, it feels like you are the victim of the most pedestrian of scams - being baited by a free or discounted weekly subscription, and then subjected to a seemingly endless series of obstacles and deceptions which make cancelling the subscription an all consuming enterprise, if not impossible (e.g. customer service telephone numbers that never connect) without cancelling your credit card. I can only encourage all people who have been subjected to this unethical and highly legally dubious behaviour on the part of the WSJ to spread the word, make contact with your local regulatory bodies, and never give this organisation another cent. The WSJ will never deserve the credibility it assumes now as its entitlement, so long as it treats its customers with such appalling cynicism and disdain.

Very hard to cancel subscription. Cheaper subscription offers almost nothing. Stay away.

WSJ forces you to call to cancel and then they spend forever trying to cancel and comes up with excuses why they can't cancel. WSJ has lost all my trust and behave like criminals.

As others here have written. They make it almost impossible to cancel your subscription. Trying to cancel my online subscription I had to phone international numbers that did not work. Calling from skype I just got call failed messages. I was also unable to call these numbers from my regular mobile. I ended up having to cancel my credit card to stop the payments. Do not sign up to a WSJ subscription if you think you ever might want to cancel it.

I tried to cancel my subscription, but then I was directed to call. All the phone numbers available for Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan etc are not working. I followed the advice from the other comments here, changed my credit address to a CA USA valid address, then the cancel link magically shows up! I have just made the cancellation, let us see if that really works... For a billion dollar public company this is just very shameful business practice, whoever executive planned, executed and signed off on this, it is not worth the negative PR the WSJ will be getting in return.

Wall Street Journal makes it extremely difficult to cancel your subscription. You cannot cancel on line- you have to call their “retention” department. I originally called and after almost an hour of holding, attempting to answer personal questions like my account number (I have no idea what or where that is), getting transferred and ultimately getting hung up on, I called back and was told my account would be canceled. Not surpisingly it was not canceled and I kept getting auto debited. I called back- more delays, more holds. They said they had received my cancellation phone request by the line had been disconnected. At this point if I wanted a refund I would have to continue to hold. I called my ban to address that issue. Stay tuned- let’s see if I can ever sever myself from this tar baby. It is so sad- I actually liked reading the paper
