I am starting to believe this is a scam
Came across wirestock when I was looking into selling my photos on stock agency services. I have been a photographer for 30 years and finally decided to see what could happen by using the stock agency route. Everything started off great, learned a bit about the process, uploaded photos and images got approved. So I decided to take the plunge and subscribe, I guess feeling it would be an upgrade. Well was I in for a surprise. As soon as I subscribed the length of time to approve images took longer. I did reach out to them and was told some glitch or update to their system caused the delay. Okay I accepted that, and continued uploading images, but interesting is that now almost 100% of my images uploaded are rejected from the marketplace. I can upload 2 images from the same shot slightly different and one is accepted and one is not. Always the same reason, no clear subject, artifacts, out of focus, etc. I don’t by it because I have experimented and uploaded some of the same images to another agency and surprise they were accepted. So in reading other reviews I feel like they hooked me early on with the prospect, got me to subscribe, then just rejected everything I submitted for the most part since. This 85% threshold seems to be a key thing in this very interesting scam of a business model. Their response from my inquiries has been, “there will be a new imaging guidelines issued very soon “ They added this new function called “explore” to see what is being sold on their sight and the type of images that are most popular. Well I have to say I found some amazing images, but I also found a great deal of extremely subpar images in terms of content, exposure, style etc. thousands of images that looked like they were just shot on someone’s phone ( nothing wrong with shooting on your phone as I do as well) but the quality of these images were awful, one person had literally almost 50 images of a swan that were so random and extremely poor quality that I sat here thinking, okay I am not the most amazing photographer in the world, but damn my stuff is 500% better than the swan lady, yet hers are being highlighted on their platform and almost all of mine post subscription are being rejected with extremely flimsy reasons. Yes I have reached out and the poor guy Ike who keeps responding gives the same generic answer. Seriously if there is true constructive criticism to give me, lay it on me. But the reality is I am not sure continuing to pay to subscribe is worth the money. I could go on and on but for readers of this review please note that I have been using them for only about 2 months and my frustrations seem to be in sink with other reviewers experience. Trent UPDATE: 4/17/2023 Well I have not had an image approved since the end of March, they did stop putting that excuse on your image of lacks focus, artifacts, etc. but even read their new guidelines I seem to qualify for most of my images, as they have on other sites. But now I am way below 50% approval so I guess that I will never get an image approved again. They seem really big on telling people that you can still sell it from your portfolio, maybe that is the direction they want to go. But my experiences have mirrored many on here, and the generic responses I get from IKE, are in no way helpful, they say on their response to people’s reviews that they want to work with you, but they don’t, generic answers and no guidance. Still not sure what I am going to do, seems sad to have spent months working on uploading to this site, I was so hopeful, but now I am very deflated.
