The technician asked thorough questions…
The technician asked thorough questions about the issue with my Beagle. She was very clear that she could not prescribe medication or even advise on whether or not a particular medicine would be safe to give him. Her advise was to apply ice to the area, which was difficult for a Beagle. Not sure that the ice was able to chill his skin through his fur. This was my first call to the service and I don't feel that it was valuable to me since they could only give very basic advise. I was expecting more of a service with a doctor who could be more specific. If my opinion causes you to have a headache, maybe put a cold cloth on your forehead. I can't tell you about any medicine that may help.

Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with our team. While we understand that it can be frustrating, injuries like the one your pup had suffered prior to your call can be difficult to manage without an in-person exam and sometimes evaluation like x-rays. Also given your pet's older age, it's not safe to give any OTC or NSAID-based pain medications without a thorough evaluation of their health, especially those that have not been prescribed specifically for your pet. And in the few states where the laws allow us to prescribe, the safest-to-prescribe medications for an older pet with no physical exam would be controlled substances, which sadly cannot be legally prescribed due to state regulations without an in-person exam in any state. We know how frustrating and scary it can be to not be able to fix your pet's pain. We sincerely hope you were able to seek the care of your primary veterinarian to help your baby feel better. Please keep in mind for the future that we're here 24/7 and never charge for follow ups about an active issue, so if our initial guidance isn't helping get things on the right track as you wait on your vet appointment, we're more than happy to walk through additional home care to help your pet be more comfortable.
